The Marlins' road trip got off to an awful start Friday, starting with a pregame injury to third baseman Hanley Ramirez and followed by an 11-0 loss at Tampa Bay. The accident left him dizzy and resulted in him being scratched from the lineup by manager Ozzie Guillen and replaced by rookie Donovan Solano. Guillen said Ramirez might have a small fracture in the nose. Ramirez entered the three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays batting only .210 in 17 games at Tropicana Field. Contrast that to playing against the Rays at home, where Ramirez has batted .320 in 20 games and hit four of his six home runs. He is hitting .186 overall in June. Guillen said he was waiting for a doctor's report on Ramirez's status, but he expected him to return for Saturday's game. Guillen had already penciled Ramirez into the No. 2 spot in the Marlins' batting order after having him ...

Struggling Marlins fight to stay above .500

A .500 record used to be considered a success for the Florida Marlins. Now as the Miami Marlins, it's a disappointment. They may be hard-pressed to move back above the break-even mark against James Shields and the Tampa Bay Rays. With Hanley Ramirez possibly back in the lineup, the Marlins will try to overcome their struggles against Shields and end an eight-game skid versus...

Miami Wins Marathon

It took fifteen innings but the Miami Marlins came out victorious on Saturday in a 4-3 game vs the Tampa Bay Rays.    The win which was the first in five chances in the Citrus Series put the Marlins back over the .500 mark.    This was the last longest game played by Miami since April 27th, 2003 when they lost a 20 inning game to the St. Louis Cardinals. A lack of clutch hitting has been an issue this year for the Miami Marlins. The Marlins are batting .242 -- 13th among the 16 National League teams -- including just .224 in June, last in the NL. Perhaps worse, Miami is batting just .218 with runners in scoring position, third-worst in the majors. "Very poor hitting with men on base," manager Ozzie Guillen said. ...
