The Outside Corner:
During Saturday night's Phillies-Marlins game, Marlins rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez picked up his first major league hit in the fifth inning, bringing in Adeiny Hechevarria to give Miami a 1-0 lead. After Fernandez got the hit, a member of the Marlins ran a jacket out to Fernandez, and the 20-year old had some issues putting the jacket on, perhaps due to a jammed zipper. He eventually needed the help of both first base coach Perry Hill and first base umpire Chris Guccione to get the jacket over his head and safely on his body.
Now, I don't know why exactly Fernandez *needed* to wear the jacket, considering the game was indoors in Miami...but to each his own.

Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez had a memorable night Saturday after throwing six innings of two-hit ball and notching five strikeouts. He also recorded his first major league hit and drove in his first run in the major leagues.
What happened after that hit, he may try to forget. Fernandez struggled mightily when putting on his warmup jacket to wear running the bases, to the point...
Jose Fernandez was brilliant in his second Major League start as the Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Saturday. While Fernandez wasn’t credited with the win, he pitched well enough for one. The win was only the second of the season for Miami and it snapped a six game losing streak. At 2-9, the Marlins remain in last place in the National League East....

Shelby Miller made his first 2013 start Saturday in San Francisco, and while it wasn’t as good as his first major-league start last October he looked like he belonged in the majors while facing the world champs. Miller didn’t make it out of the sixth inning after walking Hunter Pence and Brandon Belt, but was bailed out by Randy Choate. It appeared Miller started overthrowing...
