Atlanta Braves left fielder Martin Prado lost his balance and fell to the ground after a big swing and miss on a pitch during his at-bat in the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Prado swung hard at a pitch down and in from Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero and could not keep himself from falling.

To his credit, however, Prado recovered from his embarrassment and singled to center field, so there's something to be said for that.

GIFcap: Martin Prado swings and falls, Chris Perez barfs on the field following a save

Martin Prado embarrasses himself, but it’s understandable in the context of the game. Chris Perez? Not so much. Hopefully this will be the most disgusting GIF I will make this year

Imposter crashes Atlanta Braves alumni reunion

Bobby Cox not only knows how to manage a pitching staff, when to hit and run and to let Chipper Jones be Chipper Jones, but he also has some Sherlock Holmes in him.  It was Cox, who spent 23 combined years as the Braves manager sandwiched around five years of being the general manager, who snuffed out an imposter who claimed to be an old Braves coach during an alumni reunion of...

Game Day Pictures: Braves vs Blue Jays 6-9-12

Simba's first big league homer! No beepee today - they had the alumni softball game beforehand. I know it's exciting to a lot of people, but when you watch it for a couple of years in a row...it's just a softball game. I'd rather see a home run derby, honestly. But I don't schedule these things, so I took pics of what I could. We spent most of the game up in the...

Braves need improvement from young starters

Fredi Gonzalez has talked about the blips. You know, the proverbial blips on the radar. That's how he's described some of the starts by the Braves' youngest starters a two-person group that includes Randall Delgado and Mike Minor this year. Blips is a mild way to describe the bumps, some bigger than others, those two have faced this year. The latest one came in the...

Braves option Gearrin to Gwinnett, recall Varvaro

Cory Gearrin, who gave up Nick Swisher's tie-breaking, two-run homer in the Braves' 6-4 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday night, has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 26-year-old right-hander was with Atlanta only two days. Gearrin, recalled from Gwinnett on Monday, appeared in two games and was charged with only one run in Tuesday night's loss. He took over after...

Braves beat Jays, welcome Bronx Bombers

Dan Ugga's on-base % stands at .388 (top-10 in NL). On June 11, 2011, it was .245. One word to describe the Braves in 2012 is streaky. For good and bad, so far the Braves seem to be grouping their wins and their losses. Heading into a 3-game series with the Blue Jays, the Braves had won 4 straight. They added to that streak by taking the first 2 from the Jays, but ended their...

Minor League Monday: Hasta Luego, Julio!

Ode to Julio Teheran: Atlanta, if you're gonna bring him up, don't have him face my former employers. Also, as good as Teheran was last year, he has quietly not been that good this year. That being said, he's 21 years old. He's the youngest starting pitcher in all of baseball now. And I'll tell you what, when it's all said and done? Teheran is going...

Braves' early lead erased by A-Rod's slam

ATLANTA (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez hit his 23rd career grand slam, matching Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig's record, and the New York Yankees scored six runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night. Nick Swisher hit a tiebreaking two-run homer off Cory Gearrin two batters after Rodriguez connected against Jonny Venters. CC Sabathia (8-3) left...

A-Rod Ties Lou Gehrig

Atop the grand slam list As the New York Yankees visited the Atlanta Braves, the Yanks found themselves in a late hole. With the score 4-0 in favor of the Braves in the top of the eighth inning, Alex Rodriguez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and one out. As the drama would play out, the count would go full. Braves pitcher Jonny Venters knew that one mistake could dearly...

Yankees 3, Braves 0

ATLANTA - Pitcher Ivan Nova singled in his first at-bat for his first major league hit, then mowed down the Braves for seven innings as the Yankees won the first game of a three-game series 3-0 Monday. ATLANTA -- Alex Rodriguez's eighth-inning grand slam tied the Braves at 4-4, and Nick Swisher followed two batters later with a two-run home run to send the New York Yankees to a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. It was the 10th home run for each of them, and it was Rodriguez's first grand slam of the season and the 23rd of his career. They made a winner...
