Either thieves are just getting smarter and smarter by the day, or professional athletes need to start making use of the fantastic security technology that is available today.  The latest theft victim in sports is Matt Garza.  According to the Fresno Bee, a burglar broke into Garza’s California home last week and stole his 2008 American League Championship ring from when he pitched for the Rays, among other items. The ring is reportedly valued at $30,000, with Garza’s name engraved on the inside and white diamonds lining the top.  Police are investigating the incident, but at the moment it sounds like not much has been found.  Perhaps he’ll get lucky like that Oklahoma State player and see the ring turn up on Craigslist.
