Final: Pirates 2, Reds 1 WP: A.J. Burnett (4-2, 3.60 ERA) LP: Johnny Cueto (5-3, 2.54 ERA) SV: Joel Hanrahan (13, 2.37 ERA) A.J. Burnett gave up a lead off double to Zack Cozart, who eventually scored due to an Pedro Alvarez error. Burnett then retired the next 17 batters to keep the Pirates in the game. He gave up just that one unearned run over seven innings while giving up just two hits. The Pirates didn’t get anything across Reds’ ace Johnny Cueto, however, and it was looking like for the longest time the game would end in a 1-0 score. But Neil Walker drew a walk and Garrett Jones singled with two outs in the sixth inning. Matt Hague then doubled to the right center field gap to grab the lead. Jason Grilli and Joel Hanrahan both pitched a scoreless inning of relief to seal the deal. Both struck out two batters. Jordy Mercer singled in the first inning for his first ever ML hit. He also looked incredibly smooth at short stop and made some nice plays. Hopefully he gets a few start...

The #Pirates have recalled INF Jordy Mercer from AAA Indy & have optioned INF Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A. — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) May 29, 2012   I definitely approve of this move.
