Cameron Maybin’s rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson has been temporarily stopped. “Technically we pulled him off the rehab to give his knee a few days to calm down” Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said Monday. Maybin hasn’t appeared in a game for Tucson since last Thursday when he came out after two at-bats. He had played in only five of a possible 11 games when he was pulled off his rehab assignment. His only hit in 10 at-bats was a home run. The immediate plan is for Maybin to remain with the T-Padres in case he can resume his rehab assignment. Maybin has been on the disabled list since June 9 when he suffered a strain of the posterior cruciate ligament in the Padres last game of their previous visit to Coors Field. He suffered the injury in just his fourth game back from his first stint on the disabled list. He had missed 46 games between April 15 and June 6 with two strained tendons in his right wrist Maybin 26 has played a total of 14 games this season and is hitting .157 (8-for-51). He is making $3 million this season and is owed at least another $21 million on a contract that runs through the 2016 season.
