Medlen continued his stellar pitching Kris Medlen shut down the San Diego Padres, and Chris Johnson and Freddie Freeman got the key hits, as the Atlanta Braves scored their first win over the Padres this season.   Johnson and Freeman provided the only offense for the Braves on Saturday night. Chris Johnson got the scoring started in the 4th inning.  He continued his great work with 2 outs and RISP, with a single to left field.  Justin Upton was on 2nd and was able to score the game’s first run. A couple of innings later, Freddie Freeman bolstered his MVP campaign, with a home run to left field.  Freeman’s homer put the Braves up 2-0. The score would stay that way until the 9th inning.  Craig Kimbrel gave up a home run to Chase Headley to start the 9th.   The lead was cut to 2-1, but Kimbrel would then retire the next 3 Padre batters.  Kimbrel recorded his 47th save of the season and bolstered his own case for a postseason award. Kris Medlen was great on the mound.  He pitched 7.1 in...

Kris Medlen dominant in Braves’ win against Padres

Kris Medlen still is amazed that he’s become the senior active member of the Braves’ youth-brigade starting rotation — “It’s crazy; it’s nuts” he’d said on Friday — but since Tim Hudson was felled by a broken ankle Medlen’s indeed been that guy. And since Hudson’s season-ending injury July 24 Medlen has also raised his performance to another level pitching...

Three Cuts: Hale sets Braves rookie record in loss to Pads

ATLANTA -- The headline may as well read "Local boy makes good." It was the stuff of fairy tales, Disney, Hollywood or whatever cliche you want to toss out there. Everything was perfect ... all except for the ending. David Hale stood at his locker in the Braves' clubhouse, a Marietta kid having made his debut for the team he grew up rooting for. He estimated over...

Brandon Beachy set to resume throwing

Brandon Beachy will give pitching this season one more chance. After being shut down in late August with discomfort in his right elbow the 27-year-old Beachy will try throwing again next week. Depending on how Beachy pitches and feels in these sessions will determine if the Braves shut him down for the year or not. Currently the Braves have no timetable for his return. #Braves Beachy...

Chase Headley hit a tying homer and Logan Forsythe drove...

Braves Fans Don’t Look Back

Atlanta Braves fans have smirked and laughed all season at the cocky Washington Nationals’ problems.  The Nationals were the odds on favorite to win the National League East, but struggled to stay above .500 most of the season. Wait until next year for the Nationals, right? Well, not exactly.  The Nationals have won seven in a row and 18 of their last 22 games, to climb within...

Braves' offense flat in 4-0 loss to Padres

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez is ready for his team to snap out of an offensive funk. ''Looking into the next few weeks, that's what we're looking for,'' Gonzalez said.
