FOXSportsSouth.com invites you to meet the Braves as we continue a month-long look at our team, player-by-player. We'll revisit 2011 and project what 2012 might look like. Adam Russell Position: P Height: 6-8 Weight: 255 BatThrow: RR Hometown: Olmsted, Ohio Experience: Fifth season 2011 in review: Russell was 1-2 with a 3.03 ERA with Tampa Bay, but struggled with his control. He walked 20 batters and struck out only 13 in 32 23 innings. He was dominant last June, when he had a 1.64 ERA in 11 innings. Russell signed a minor-league deal with the Braves. Career highlight: Russell went 4-0 his rookie season with the Chicago White Sox in 2008 and 3-1 with San Diego in 2009, giving him a 7-1 record after his first two big-league seasons. Outlook: Russell is a longshot to make the club with five of the seven bullpen spots possibly already filled. But an extra spot could open if Kris Medlen is called on to start the season in the rotation. Russell threw a scoreless inning in the spring training opener on Saturday. You should know: Russell, who is 6-8, is listed at 255 pounds, but reported to camp at closer to 270, and is believed to be one of the biggest players ever to wear a Braves uniform.

Prado returns to comfort level with Braves

Martin Prado was out of place. He wasnt comfortable in the field or at the plate. And he certainly wasnt comfortable when he was on the disabled list. That pretty much sums up 2011 for Prado. It was a season of disappointment as he struggled to adjust to a new position, a new spot in the batting order and an injury that cost him more than a month of the season. He wants to leave...

Braves lose game-2 of spring 18-3, but the good news is…

By Kent Covington RHP Randall Delgado So… day-2 of the Grapefruit League season didn’t exactly go as planned. Of course it ‘s just spring training (and very early in the spring at that), but an 18-3 loss is always ugly. To say it was a disappointing day for the Braves top-2 pitching prospects, Randall Delgado and Julio Teheran, doesn’t begin to describe it. Delgado gave up...

2012 Top 20 Prospects – Atlanta Braves

It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). The Atlanta Braves are next. For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to my ranking. I’ve also listed the rankings of...

Spring training a time for relaxation, not panic

Dont panic. And judging by what Ive read, some of you already are, for lack of a better term, freaking out. Granted, its like September never ended for the Braves. Two games into the spring schedule, and they have two losses. Its not like theyre just 0-2, its the way theyve lost their first two games. In Saturdays opener, they were listless and hitless until the eighth and finished...

Heyward helps Braves beat Astros

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Jason Heyward hit a two-run single, Jair Jurrjens pitched two innings and the Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros 10-5 in a spring training game on Monday.
