Knobler: Brewers could extend Greinke, Marcum, Axford
If you still aren't willing to accept the fact that Prince Fielder is gone, here's another piece of news to chew on -- Danny Knobler of CBS Sports is saying the Brewers may continue to use the Prince Fund to keep players who want to stick around, as they entertain the idea of offering extensions to Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum.

Extending Shaun Marcum
It has been reported that Brewers GM Doug Melvin is interested in signing two of his front-line pitchers, Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, to contract extensions before they become free agents next off-season. Suitors for free agent Fielder quiet for now
Brewers GM Doug Melvin and principal owner Mark Attanasio met Tuesday with the agent for Prince Fielder. This was not a meeting to exchange numbers. Realistically, such a meeting may never happen, because Fielder's contractual requirements will almost certainly price him out of Milwaukee.
Cubs In the Sveum
The Cubs named Dale Sveum as their new manager:
‘‘Dale’s a good guy, a good, solid baseball guy,’’ said Brewers general manager Doug Melvin, who had Sveum take over his 2008 playoff team for the last 12 games of the regular season and into the postseason after firing Ned Yost. Dale Sveum’s the name for Cubs
MILWAUKEE — He likes his motorcycle, has big tattoos on his arms and once got ejected from the dugout — as a hitting coach — after a game in 2009. And, according to the Milwaukee Brewers media guide, he goes by the nickname of ‘‘Nuts.’’ And if you knew even that much about Dale Sveum, you’re way ahead of the guy who was...
