PLAYERS: Sandy Alderson
TEAMS: New York Mets
I wanted to get a sense of what some of the most popular Mets bloggers, Mets personalities and Top Mets Tweeps thought about Sandy Alderson’s foray into Twitter. Most of the people who responded were very positive about it. Check it out… I love that Sandy is on twitter. It shows he can relate and interact with the fans along with a sense of humor. I think he should continue to do so. Keep the hits coming. No pressure Sandy. ~ Lori Martini, Song Writer “Believe” and Actress I am fine with his foray into Twitter. His sense of humor is something that is fresh and different; as Matt Cerrone said on my Sunday show, he is probably making more fun of the people that cover the Mets, than the team itself. I do think if humor and sarcasm are the foundation of his account, then he might have to watch the timing of the information. I am not sure if the fans will be interested in hearing about the team’s finances in a humorous manner if they are in the midst of losing 12 of 15. If the timing ...

A second look at Jon Rauch

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with most of the moves that Sandy Alderson and Co. have made this off-season. Not spending a ton of money (which the team didn’t even have) on a player like Jose Reyes was a hard decision, but it was the right move. Personally, I loved the Angel Pagan for Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez trade and if I were the Mets I probably would have...

NL East: A Fascinating Place: Mets

This is the last post in a series that has looked at the boiler plate that is now the National League East. The series started with a look at the Phillies and determined that, with that pitching rotation, and despite a weaker line up, should be given the nod once again as the favorite to win the division. The next three posts focused on the Braves, Marlins and Nationals and found...

An open letter to Fred Wilpon

Dear Mr. Fred Wilpon: It’s time – you need to sell the team. I know the truth often smarts, but that doesn’t make it any less accurate. I understand New York Mets baseball has been a part of your life since you purchased that one-percent share back in 1980, half of the shares in 1986 and finally everything in 2002. And for many of those years, you put the team in a position...

What can we expect from Dillon Gee in 2012?

Last year Dillon Gee burst onto the scene like a man possessed.  He hit the ground running and helped keep the Mets stay respectable for the majority of the season until Sandy dealt key pieces at the trade deadline. Aside from R.A. Dickey, Gee was the Mets best starter last season and ended with 13 wins which was the most on the club. What can we realistically expect from him for...

Sandy Alderson On WFAN At 3:00 PM

Mets GM Sandy Alderson will be on WFAN with Mike Francesa at 3:00 PM. Lots of varying opinions on Alderson’s foray into Twitter. Some are getting a kick out of it, some fans feel as though he’s mocking them, and others simply don’t care. Where do you stand? The funniest person on Twitter these days is New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson. His account @MetsGM ...

Recap Of Sandy Alderson Interview On WFAN

This afternoon, Sandy Alderson was a guest of Mike Francesa on WFAN and MetsBlog posted a summary recap: Johan Santana will throw off a mound later this week in Port St. Lucie. He feels the current rotation is “pretty solid,” if Santana is healthy. There isn’t anyone on the roster who doesn’t have something to prove. Lucas Duda has big offensive potential. He believes...

Mets Love Songs

I wasn’t really a huge fan of Twitter when it first came out, and in fact I was late to the party and only signed up in late 2010 I think. However, lately I’ve seen the light and actually enjoy Twitter as a means to stay connected with other Mets fans, other Mets bloggers, and of course the beat writers which is why I joined in the first place. Last week we eclipsed 3,500 followers...

MMO Exclusive Interview: NY Mets Pitcher Rob Carson

I contacted Rob Carson, left-handed pitcher for the New York Mets by phone on Monday, less than a week before he is due to leave for spring training in Port. St. Lucie. This year spring training will be a little different for Carson, because he will be in the big league camp for the first time, a result of being added to the 40-man Major League Roster this winter. Rob and I discussed...

Mets scouting Kazmir...

Former Mets top prospect Scott Kazmir is attempting to comeback from injury. The 28 y/o lefty pitched 15 innings to a 17.02 ERA in AAA last year and 1.2 innings at the major league level with a 27 ERA.  The year before with the Angels he made 28 starts (150 innings) with a 5.94 ERA. In his first six seasons with the Rays he went 55-44 with a 3.92 ERA in 144 starts ( 834 innings...

Seong-Min Kim, Korea, and the International Draft

Yesterday evening, Roch Kubatko of MASN announced the most unexpected: The MLB had voided the Baltimore Orioles‘ contract with 17-year-old South Korean pitcher Seong-Min Kim. Kim had signed with the Orioles earlier this year, but the $550,000 signing almost instantly sent the peninsula into an icy rage. The Korean Baseball Organization (KOB) decried the MLB for not affording it...
