New York Mets
Los Angeles Dodgers
WASHINGTON - With their season potentially spiraling out of control, the Mets needed an explosive performance from someone, somewhere. Not surprisingly, their All-Star third baseman was the Wright man for the job. David Wright smashed two home runs and drove in five runs, and R.A. Dickey earned his NL-leading 13th victory, as the Mets ended their season-worst losing streak with a 9-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday. Entering the game with six straight losses, including five on their post All-Star break road trip, the Mets (47-45) turned an expected pitcher's duel between Dickey and fellow All-Star Gio Gonzalez into a one-sided affair. Five Mets had two hits, including Wright and Ike Davis, who smacked a second-inning home run. The win moves New York within seven games of the NL East-leading Nationals (53-37). During the first two games of the series, New York failed to score in 13 innings against Washington's starters. Versus Gonzalez, the Mets scored i...

The Mets take the field this afternoon to try and avoid their second straight sweep, seventh consecutive loss, and a winless road trip.
TC could send no better man to the mound than today's starter RA Dickey. Dickey (12-1) is coming off a couple of rough outings, and he, like the Mets need to Wright right his ship.
Coming off a cluster of lousy losses, it has been difficult...
David Wright homered twice and had five RBIs and R.A. Dickey won his league-leading 13th game and the New York Mets broke a six-game losing streak with a 9-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday.
Dickey (13-1) pitched 7 1-3 innings to break a streak of rare ineffectiveness this season. After throwing consecutive one-hitters last month, Dickey had won just one of four starts...
Lately the Mets have looked as though they spent the All-Star break thinking up ways to piss off their fans. After losing five straight to start the second half of the season and six straight overall, the Mets brass was struggling to stay positive (to put it lightly). On Thursday afternoon R.A. Dickey and David Wright helped give the most resilient fans in baseball a reason...
Before Saturday afternoon's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets manager Terry Collins indicated that he might start using R.A. Dickey in relief, allowing the soft-throwing junk-ball ace to take some pressure off the Mets' overworked bullpen.
The early returns on Collins' decision are in, and if they're any indication of what's to come, he may...
Backed by an enormous offensive effort highlighted by a two homerun game by David Wright, R.A. Dickey held the first place Washington Nationals at bay to grab his 13th victory on the season and more importantly end the Mets six-game skid.
In one of the more prominent matchups of the season, knuckleballer R.A. Dickey took the mound going head-to-head with the Nats’ all-star...
They have done it! The New York Mets have finally put an end to their season-long six-game losing streak. With two home runs from David Wright and a solo shot from Ike Davis, the Mets trounced the first-place Washington Nationals by a score of 9-5.R.A. Dickey went seven and one-third innings en route to his 13th victory of the season. R.A. allowed ten hits, struck out five, and walked...
Entering today’s salvage operation against the Washington Nationals, the Mets were looking to avoid another sweep as they opened the second half of the 2012 season by losing five straight games to division opponents.
R.A. Dickey and Gio Gonzalez, a pair of all-stars, took the mound today. Dickey set out to prove that he can retain his dominant stuff for the remainder of the season...
Mets turn to R.A. Dickey to stop the bleeding today against the Naitonals. Game time is 12:35 on this getaway day.

Washington Nationals held a 4-1 lead heading into the ninth inning as David Wright smacked the first pitch thrown by Tyler Clippard over the right center wall for a solo home run. The blast cut the lead down to a two run deficit. David Wright’s homer landed over the Seinfeld billboard, and guess who happen to be watching...

The Mets needed Batista to give some innings today and he was unable to do that.
Today the Mets lost to the Dodgers by a score of 8 to 5. The Mets alarmingly fell back to exactly .500 on the season, at 47-47. Overall, the Mets have won only 1 game since returning from the All Star break.
Miguel Batista started the game and struggled and only went 3 innings giving up 4 runs. It took...
This afternoon in the nation’s capital, the Mets look to avoid being swept…again. Another bullpen fiasco last night at the hands of Miguel Batista essentially killed the Mets chances of coming back. Chris young pitched another solid game, but ran out of gas in the 6th inning, allowing an Adam Laroche 2 run homer to put the Nats up 2-0. David Wright and Jason Bay hit solo...
