A Johan Santana baseball card recently sold on eBay for $305.00. No it wasn't his rookie card, and no it wasn't even signed.
What made this card so special was the inscription on the bottom. Take a good look at it.
"SANTANA TOSSES METS 1ST NO-NO"
If only it were true...
Not only was the front of the card printed in error, but the back of the card had full details of the alleged no hitter.
Maybe it's an omen?
Last month Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa tossed nine no-hit innings in a winter league game. He lost the no hitter in the tenth inning but won the game 1-0.
Why do the baseball gods keep doing this to us?
