Tonight the Mets took the 4 game set from the Red defeating them 8-2 (box score) and setting themselves up for a four game sweep tomorrow afternoon.

The proof was in the pudding tonight.  Stats tell the story…

Mike Pelfrey tossed a complete game while giving up 7 hits, two runs, and striking out three batters…Well done Big Pelf.

The Mets offense did their part as well tonight ripping Bronson Arroyo a new one to the tune of 4 runs on 7 hits, but really getting to Jose Arrendondo for 3 runs on 2 hits in an inning of work.

Lucas Duda, David Wright and , of course, Dan Murphy provided the offense tonight for the Mets.  Murphy was 4-5 with a run scored and an RBI to go with his two doubles tonight.  To think that this guy isn’t a professional hitter at this point is just flat out dumb.  He’s been awesome all year, and I hate to think what the Mets would be right now without him.

On another positive note, but Wright and Duda went deep for the team, and really stretched the lead tonight, making it a rare “easy victory” for the team.  Here’s hoping they can produce another one tomorrow night….

Let’s go Mets.
