They’ll start showing up today for the Winter Meetings, and when they do, the Mets will have a lot on their plate, but little hope of cleaning it. Their first priority, now that David Wright is done, will be to extend R.A. Dickey’s contract. Dickey prefers three years, but would take two if the dollars are higher. You can bet Dickey’s agents will point to the $12-million, one-year deal the Yankees offered Andy Pettitte. Although Dickey is the Cy Young Award winner, he’s still only done it for one season at a high level, while Pettitte has over 200 victories and is regarded as one of the game’s best postseason pitchers. While they are trying to re-sign Dickey, the Mets will also be exploring the trade market for him. However, considering Dickey’s age, career productivity and that many still regard the knuckleball as a gimmick pitch, the Mets might not get in return what they’d like. Any team trading for him would likely want the chance to negotiate an extension, but their apprehensio...

If The Mets Trade R.A. Dickey, Who Becomes The Team’s Ace?

At seasons end Dickey called he and Wright a “package deal.” Now that the Mets have locked up David Wright to an extension, they will probably shift their attention to the 2012 Cy Young award winner, RA Dickey. Could it be the reason why David Wright agreed to sign on the dotted line was because he and Dickey are truly a package deal, and now the Mets are going to lock up Dickey...

The Mets want an insane haul for RA Dickey

As the trade winds surrounding RA Dickey continue to swirl, the names that the New York Mets have been rumored to be inquiring about are an indication that the team is going to want a substantial haul for the 2012 NL Cy Young winner. From the Royals, the Mets reportedly asked for top prospect Wil Myers. From the Red Sox, the Mets apparently demanded Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley...

Digging Deeper Into David Wright’s New Deal: Is It Actually a Bargain For The Mets?

At first glance, the eight-year, $138 million deal David Wright signed early Friday morning didn’t appeal to many. Originally, reports indicated that the Mets wanted to offer a little less than $120 million, and the Wright camp started out well above $140 million, so I was very surprised that the two sides settled for such a high amount. However, when you dig deeper into the deal...

Olney: Mets increased their offer to R.A. Dickey

With David Wright signed for the next eight years, the New York Mets next order of action is to figure out what they are going to do with reigning NL Cy Young award winner R.A. Dickey.  While negotiations have reportedly been slow, Buster Olney of ESPN recently reported that the team has increased it’s offer to the 38-year-old knuckleballer: The Mets increased their offer to R...

Mets 3rd baseman David Wright has become the richest man in Mets franchise history. He has agreed to a new 8 year contract worth 138 million dollars keeping in a Mets uniform through 2020. David Wright will now be playing for the Mets for the rest of his major league baseball career. This was the right move by the Mets management of keeping David Wright for years to come. New...

Mets targetting Royals prospect Wil Myers

Apparently teams that have come away from their talks with the New York Mets regarding R.A. Dickey have acknowledged that the team’s asking price is extremely high.  First off, I think the following tweet from Andy Martino of the New York Daily News best explains that stance. #bbpBox_275869272276865025 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_275869272276865025 a:hover...
