Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted earlier today that “All signs point to #Mets trading Dickey.  Little progress with extension, 1 yr./$5M looks more attractive by the day.”  Rosenthal has followed up with a column suggesting five teams to watch on the trade front and it’s no surprise that he listed the Mets atop the list (click here to read in full): The Texas Rangers are among the clubs interested in Dickey, sources say, but the price remains high. The Mets are telling clubs that they have an acceptable trade offer for Dickey, but they are trying to get an even better package, one source says” Photo by Michael G. Baron Well Sandy Alderson is certainly letting the market develop and while I don’t think this necessarily means a Dickey trade is inevitable, it is becoming more and more apparent that this is in fact the Mets preference.  Look, guys like Kevin Correia, Joe Blanton, and Ryan Dempster are getting two year deals that make what Dickey is rumored to be asking for seem like an incredibly reasonable deal, but the Metsecutives are trying to fill multiple holes at the major league level while dealing from what they view as a position of strength. In addition to the Rangers, who have now watched Zack Grienke and Josh Hamilton choose other destinations, Jon Heyman of SI.com lists the Blue Jays and Angels as potential suitors for Dickey. #bbpBox_279668639676911617 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_279668639676911617 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } #bluejays #angels, 2 biggest under-the-radar clubs in mlb, are among teams thought interested in dickey. All cautioned no inside info, but many said watch #Bluejays 43 minutes ago via TweetDeckReplyRetweetFavorite @Joelsherman1 Joel Sherman I’m perfectly fine with how Alderson is handling the situation as it’s becoming more and more clear that he has judged the market correctly.  Teams that may have ‘wanted’ Dickey a week or so ago may now feel as though the ‘NEED’ him.  That will help the market develop for his services and that’s exactly what Sandy wanted. #bbpBox_279667356614160384 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_279667356614160384 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } seems like teams have ramped up efforts on ra dickey. #mets keeping options open, but trade appears more likely. about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®ReplyRetweetFavorite @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman Andy Martino of the Daily news even lists the Baltimore Orioles as a team having entered the race, going as far as to call Thursday’s talks ‘intense’. #bbpBox_279677039018139648 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_279677039018139648 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } Sources: Intense trade talks yesterday regarding Dickey, with Texas, Toronto and, hey now, Baltimore being serious players. 34 minutes ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @MartinoNYDN Andy Martino
