The New York Mets will get a boost to their bullpen in July without having to hit the trade market.  Tim Byrdak is expected to be ready to pitch for the big league club again by July 1st.  He underwent shoulder surgery last season which caused him to miss much of the second half. Adam Rubin of ESPN New York says Byrdak is eyeing a July 1st return as his deadline.  He'd like to return sometime in June.  Byrdak has been throwing off flat ground and will progress to throwing off a mound at some point during the spring.  He has reported to the Mets spring training facility in Port St. Lucie with the rest of the pitchers. “If we get any time in June, I think that would be icing on the cake,” said Byrdak of his possible return date.  Byrdak underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his shoulder.  It was initially thought that the injury could end Brydak's career, but he rehabbed and is on pace to return in July as he hoped he would.  If he can make it back by July 1st, he will beat doctor estimates for recovery time, and he will beat the times other pitchers with similar surgeries have needed for recovery. Byrdak has been a left-handed specialist out of the Mets' bullpen.  He re-signed with the Mets on a minor league deal, hoping that he would be able to recover and regain a spot on the Major League roster. In his 11-year career, Byrdak has a 4.30 ERA.  Last season, he posted a 4.40 ERA, but that was after five consecutive seasons in which he had a sub-4.00 ERA.  Byrdak will be entering his third season with the Mets organization after spending time with the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, and Houston Astros in his career.
