If Reyes Leaves Should the Mets Trade Wright?

With the news that Jose Reyes and the Marlins are getting closer and closer to reaching a deal, it may become time to seriously consider what life for the New York Mets will be like without Jose Reyes. It is highly unlikely that Reyes or any other big name free agent will sign until the new CBA is in place, but the two sides could easily put together a deal that is just waiting to...

Video: Alderson On SNY Mets Hot Stove

Tonight, Sandy Alderson was a guest of Kevin Burkhardt on SNY’s Mets Hot Stove show. Here is Parts 1 and 2 of the interview courtesy of SNY.tv. Part One On Reyes – “We’ve had a couple of face to face meetings, but I wouldn’t call them substantive in terms of a contract negotiation…Once the exclusive period ends, and other offers roll in, then I think things become more...

NYDN: If Reyes goes, Mets should admit they’re rebuilding

“At 28, however, [Jose Reyes] is young enough to be a centerpiece when the young pitching finally makes its presence felt. And that’s the dilemma for the people running the Mets. … Alderson and his lieutenants do have a plan for the future. But if Reyes leaves, they should just admit that 2012 isn’t part of it. Otherwise their fans have a right to ask if this is New York...

Mets to remove black drop shadow on uniform? They should get rid of the black uniforms!

About the 2012 uniforms, via Adam Rubin of ESPN New York: “…The Mets are going to borrow significantly, I hear, from the early 1960s uniforms. … I hear the black drop shadow is going away, so it will just be the orange and blue lettering … script Mets for the home lettering, block letters NEW YORK for road. Even the bright white home uniforms (without the pinstripes) should...

Mets haven't contacted Broxton

Jonathan Broxton appears to be a good fit for the Mets, he's looking for a one year deal with incentives as he attempts to restore his career.  The 27 y/o closer was a two time All-Star in which he collected 58 saves with an ERA under three.  But Broxton hasn't effectively pitched in a year and a half,  he's just over a month removed from what is described as minor...
