Found June 25, 2013 on New York Mets Report:
Zack Wheeler has been in our consciousness for over a year, but has one start in our memories. He gets his second tonight for the New York Mets in Chicago against the White Sox. Wheeler threw six, tense scoreless innings in his debut at Atlanta. However, four hits and five walks means he was in trouble most of the night. He needed those seven strikeouts. WHEELER: Goes tonight vs. White Sox. Control was the concern at Triple-A Las Vegas and it is the issue tonight. It was impressive how Wheeler escaped trouble, but it is just as important to avoid it in the first place. Wheeler outpitched his wildness with velocity, but it isn’t always going to work that way for him. Every game is a test, and tonight the Mets want to see Wheeler work the corners more and avoid the walks. In making the inevitable comparisons to Matt Harvey, notice Harvey has shown exceptional control. That’s Wheeler’s next step. Are Mets’ Forcing Wheeler’s Development?

Here’s what the New York Mets can make of Zack Wheeler: He still has a lot of work to do. Wheeler tripped Tuesday night, but I’m inclined to agree with Ron Darling in that it was the Mets who stuck their foot out. WHEELER: White Sox know what pitch this is. Darling, who has forgotten more pitching than most of us will ever know, said the Mets might have done Wheeler a disservice...

Wheeler Ready For White Sox, Looks To Cut Down Walks

With Wheeler Day less than a day away, the young right-hander has one goal he’d like to accomplish tomorrow night at U.S. Cellular Field when he takes on Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox and that is to cut down the free passes. Speaking on a conference call with reporters, Zack Wheeler said, “I walked a lot of people last time. I just got to keep my walks down.” He should...

David Wright’s comeback as sudden as his decline

By: Joe Vasile While a lot of attention has recently been paid to the Mets unorthodox methods of promoting David Wright’s all-star candidacy, the much bigger story is that Wright is posting numbers worthy of an all-star in 2013. Only two years ago, it seemed nearly unfathomable that Wright would ever post an all-star caliber season again, but his resurgence this year and last...

David Wright and Beach Balls

David Wright has been quietly having another very good season with the New York Mets. The quiet nature of Wright’s season has to do with the Mets overall poor performance on the diamond this year, but it’s not that he has been bad. Oftentimes, it has taken contributions from one or both of David Wright and Daniel Murphy to muster a good offensive output for the Amazin’s. Over...

Collins Received Texts That Wheeler Was Tipping His Pitches

The Associated Press reported on what Terry Collins had to say before Wednesday’s game to reporters regarding Zack Wheeler tipping his pitches: New York Mets manager Terry Collins said top prospect Zack Wheeler is tipping his breaking pitches. Collins said in his pregame media session Wednesday the Mets noticed the flaw in Wheeler’s motion during his second big league start...

Mets-White Sox Preview

After an impressive big league debut last week, Zack Wheeler surely has New York Mets looking forward to his encore performance. The visiting Mets send Wheeler to the mound opposite the Chicago White Sox's Chris Sale, who tries to snap a career-worst four-start losing streak Tuesday night. Considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, Wheeler (1-0, 0.00 ERA) lived...

Zack Wheeler Gives Mets Fans More Hope For the Future

It’s been very difficult to be a Mets fan these past few years. Since their epic collapse in 2007, fans have witnessed over five years of injuries, disappointing signings, embarrassing losses (Luis Castillo, anyone?) and poor ownership. There have been bright spots, such as Dillon Gee’s 7-0 start and Jose Reyes’ batting title in 2011, and R.A. Dickey’s Cy Young Award last...

Use caution with Milone, Buehrle

This week's inventory seem short? It is, thanks to many teams logging just five games on the upcoming calendar. Make sure your weekly-locked leagues are adjusted accordingly. Start 'Em Zack Wheeler (@CHW, WAS) You don't want to get caught in the fever pitch from a single start (or one's major-league debut, for that matter), but for an encore, Wheeler couldn...

Series Preview 26: Mets at White Sox

Well, now that the Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup and completed an epic season in Chicago sports history, all that we have left is baseball. Unfortunately, the White Sox have not lived up to the standard their brethren on the ice have established.  They are coming off a series win in Kansas City though, so that’s something.  The Sox return home to Chicago...

June 18, 2013 Was A Turning Point For The New York Mets

They say that every great run of success usually had its roots in a turning point. Looking at Mets history you can say we’ve had quite a few turning points – both good and bad. Gil Hodges and Tom Seaver were certainly turning points for the Mets – when they went from lovable losers to a team to be reckoned with and one that shocked the world in 1969. I always felt that the...

Game Preview: Mets @ White Sox

The Mets travel to the South Side of Chicago for Wheeler Day! The Mets are coming off of a needed off day after pounding the Phillies in an 8-0 win. Harvey was great pitching 6 shutout innings (he was stopped by the rain, but really he was stopped by the umpires who were stopped by the rain) and David Wright had himself a day going 4-5, 2 2B, 3B, HR. Today Wheeler looks to build...

The Matt Harvey Express Rolls Over the Phillies

If the opponents in the National league east have not become impressed with Matt Harvey, the Philadelphia Phillies have. David Wright had a up close and personal view of the Philly hitters as the Mets ace (Yes I said since earlier this season, he is the ace) made believers of the Phillies. Wright knew it was going to be a good day. He saw the surprise on Jimmy Rollins’ face after...
