Found June 04, 2012 on Mets360.com:
The Mets have a lot of pitchers in their system that seem to succeed despite being later draft picks.  Collin McHugh is one such example.  Drafted in the 18th round of the 2008 draft, McHugh left college for the big leagues. When I look back at McHugh’s time with the Mets it’s hard for me to find too much to fault.  He signed quickly and played in Rookie Ball back in 2008.  Throughout his minor league career he has averaged a K/9 of 9.0, a K/BB of 3.22 and an ERA of 3.30. 2012 has seen McHugh repeating in AA.  He’s not in AA because he’s not ready for AAA or the majors… he’s just blocked by a plethora of arms.  We’ve been through it before, but the Mets cannot promote McHugh or Wheeler while Harvey, Familia, Schwinden, Hefner and others are vying for starts in AAA.  Now that Chris Young has been promoted we are moving closer to the point where the Mets could. In this season and through 10 starts, McHugh is 5-3 with a 2.17 ERA.  He’s a bit off his career K/9 but nothing to get too con

Comedian Bill Maher Buys A Piece Of The Amazins

Last night, the Mets announced that comedian Bill Maher is now a new limited partner with the Mets after purchasing a minority stake in the team. “I think it’s a great investment,” Maher said. “I think it’s a great team that I’ve been rooting for since they came into existence, which was soon after I came into existence.” Our senior staff writer, Jim Mancari, covered...

Revelation in Awesome: R.A. Dickey continues to be one of baseball’s best stories

Dickey. Dealing. The best story in baseball this season, keeps getting better. Sure, I’m a biased Mets fan. But I want to meet the real baseball zealot that isn’t grinning ear-to-ear at and pulling for one R.A. Dickey to continue his dominant early run. At this point in sports, there are few folks I’m happier to seeing having success – for so many reasons. Dickey’s “story”...

The Mets open a nine-game road trip tonight in Washington D.C. where they’ll begin a three-game set with the National League East leading Nationals. Jon Rauch has debris in his elbow

Jon Rauch has debris in his elbow, and will miss this series against the Nationals, according to Adam Rubin ESPN New York. The Mets will not currently place him on the DL. Honestly, not a huge loss at this point. However, it’s one less pitcher in your bullpen, and Mets starting pitchers aren’t going to go 7+ innings everyday. So it’s critically important that Rauch gets healthy...

Cardinals 5, Mets 4

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets got another impressive pitching performance by their starter, but the St. Louis Cardinals countered with a better one, allowing their slumping offense to find itself in a late comeback win. The Cardinals bullpen then barely held off the Mets as St. Louis salvaged the final game of the four-game series with a 5-4 win Monday. The Mets trailed 5-3 after...
