This is kind of odd, but…
MetsBlog is reporting that MLB Network’s Peter Gammons said he had the sense Major League Baseball would protect the Mets’ first-round draft choice in the upcoming first year player draft if the Mets sign a player requiring draft compensation.
If that happens, there is, “real optimism” Michael Bourn will sign with the Mets, Gammons said.
Sounds like a real predicament, or a truly confounding oxymoron if you will…
1. MLB will protect the pick if Mets sign Bourn.
2. Mets will sign Bourn if they protect the pick.
Does anyone here know how to play this game?
