Found December 26, 2011 on Mets Guy in Michigan:
I opened some wonderful Christmas gifts this year and in the past, but there is one that stands above all others. You have to understand that I've always loved baseball uniforms. Stores didn't start selling polyester replicas until I was in high school. They were not as close as to the authentic versions as you see today. Everything was polyester, and all the lettering was screen-printed. No buttons, as all the replicas were pull-overs.I remember running to one of the department stores in the Sunrise Mall – it might have been Gertz – and finding the Astros rainbow replica. There were no Mets replicas there, but I was thrilled to get a shirt from any team other than the Yankees. I remember a classmate asking, dismissively, why I was wearing an Astros jersey. But I loved all baseball uniforms, and would even get the matching mesh-backed, adjustable caps to go with them. These were prized possessions. The mall supply exhausted quickly – I'm surprised the store carried them at ...

John Sickels: New York Mets Top 20 Prospects for 2012

From the great John Sickels of Minor League Ball, here are your 2012 Top 20 Mets Prospects: 1) Matt Harvey, RHP, Grade B+: He can be a number two starter and someone to build around. Some evaluators see him more as a closer if his changeup remains erratic, but I’m cutting him some slack on that issue and am optimistic. 2) Zack Wheeler, RHP, Grade B+: This is actually...

What To Expect From The Mets In 2012

Anthony DiComo talks about what the Mets could expect to do n 2012. I’m not expecting much in 2012 from the Amazins’, especially with a team that must now overcome the losses of Beltran, Reyes and K-Rod from last Opening Day’s roster. Like last year, they will once again be banking on a healthy return from Johan Santana who now finds himself a year older at 33...

Mets Edition: All I Want For Christmas!!

Stability: [stuh-bil-i-tee] noun 1: the state or quality of being stable.2: firmness in position. 3: continuance without change; permanence.I know a lot of people might say money, but in my opinion if there is one thing that the New York Mets need it would be stability. This is a pretty new problem for the Mets and not a problem when it relates to the team's front office. Since...

Mets ask Dickey not to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro

According to ESPN NY, the Mets have asked R.A. Dickey not to make his charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. However, Dickey still plans on going, according to the Wall Street Journal. Though trips up Kilimanjaro are apparently not fatal or even that dangerous, the Mets have sent Dickey a letter saying they can void his contract if anything bad happens. "If we thought...

My New York Mets Christmas List

I celebrate Christmas in my household and despite being twenty-five years old, I still put together a Christmas list each year.  However, I don’t mail it to Santa in the North Pole.  I’ve decided to skip the middle man and just give the list to mom and pop.  Unfortunately, I have nothing cool to ask for this year – just money.  It’s going to be a blast...

The BP First Take: Wednesday, December 28 by Daniel Rathman

The Mets are struggling financially and on thin ice with their fans, so you’d think that when one of their players spends his offseason preparing to do something generous and cool, the front office would praise him and consider opportunities to market it. There are few major leaguers whose careers and stories are more intriguing than those of R.A. Dickey. He was born without...

Did Mets front office do the right thing by letting Reyes go?

They say that if you love something, you should let it go. Well, there’s little doubt that many Mets fans loved Jose Reyes, but they aren’t the ones who decided to let him go. It was that cold, calculating, college-educated Mets front office that put all emotion aside and decided that they would not pay Reyes more than they though he was worth. Not even if he was about to jump...

Mets send Dickey letter asking him not to climb

New York Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro -- even if his team isn't all that thrilled about the potentially dangerous adventure.

Omar Vizquel will not join the Mets

In a post to Twitter, SS Omar Vizquel said, if offered a contract, he would not be interested in joining the Mets next season. Vizquel, who will be 45 in April, hit .251 with eight RBI in 58 games for the White Sox last season. In 23 big league seasons, Vizquel is a .272 career hitter with 2841 hits and 402 stolen bases and an 11-time Gold Glove Award winner at shortstop. Michael...
