The Mets just handed me a press release announcing that they have signed infielder Brad Emaus and outfielder Fred Lewis to minor league deals. Both will be assigned Triple-A Buffalo. Emaus gets his second tour of duty with the Mets, his first coming after being taken by the Amazin’s in the Rule V Draft 2010. He played 14 games and went 6-37 in his Met career before being returned to the Rockies where he hit .313 (51-for-163) for their Triple-A affiliate. Lewis, a career .267 hitter, has spent time with the Giants, Blue Jays and most recently the Reds over his six-year career. In 2011, Lewis hit .230 with 3 homers and 19 RBIs over 183 at-bats. Thoughts from Joe D – Both players are nothing more than minor league roster fodder for Buffalo.
