I never thought I would be saying this, but the New York Mets have signed a backup shortstop for Ruben Tejada…

The New York Mets have signed the 30-year-old middle infielder Omar Quintanilla.

Quintanilla is a career .213 hitter in parts of six major-league seasons, Quintanilla was 1-for-23 last year with the Rangers.

This is definitely not a significant deal, and won’t have any large effect on the Mets this upcoming season.
