Mets shortstop Justin Turner has been helped off the field after injuring a leg during a rundown at the end of the third inning. Turner singled to right field with a runner on and two outs, and tried to take second when Phillies right fielder Hunter Pence threw home. Catcher Brian Schneider threw to second baseman Freddy Galvis to start the rundown, and shortstop Jimmy Rollins chased Turner back to first. Turner fell as he lunged for the bag, and tumbled into foul territory behind the base, where he writhed in pain as Mets staff came out to assist him. After about a minute, he was assisted off the field.

Roy Halladay placed on DL, out 6-8 weeks with strained lat

The Philadelphia Phllies have placed starting pitcher Roy Halladay on the 15-day DL with a strained right lat muscle, and he will be out for six to eight weeks. That would put him out of commission for the Phillies until mid to late July, which is absolutely not what this team needed at this point in time. Halladay left Saturday's start against the Cardinals in the first inning...

Roy Halladay exits start after 2 innings with injury

Roy Halladay hasn't been himself in the month of May (5.40 ERA before Sunday's start) and it might have something to do with the sore shoulder that forced the Phillies to pinch hit for their ace in the bottom half of the second inning of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.  Halladay had given up a grand slam in the top of the first inning to Yadier Molina...

Roy Halladay Pulled After 2 Innings Because of Shoulder Soreness

In continuing what has already been a troublesome start to the season for Roy Halladay, the right hander was pulled from today’s game after only two innings and 36 pitches. Halladay gave up 4 runs and 4 hits, including a 1st inning grand slam to Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. No word has been given on why Halladay was lifted from the game, but it seemed strange after Doc had...

Injuries piling up for top teams

As if there was any doubt that this is the Year of the Injury, consider the disturbing events of Tuesday, when two of the game's best pitchers went on the disabled list and a former MVP also faced that possibility. Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay and Angels right-hander Jered Weaver are major losses for their respective clubs, and the absence of second baseman Dustin Pedroia...

Mets News: Acosta To Be DFA, Turner To DL, Quintanilla And Schwinden Up

Following today’s 8-4 loss to Philadelphia, the Mets made several roster moves: After leaving the game with an apparent ankle injury, Justin Turner will be placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained ankle. To replace the replacement to the replacement for Ruben Tejada, the Mets have promoted infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Buffalo to presumably be the everyday shortstop until...

Handicapping the race for Roy Oswalt

Roy Oswalt's name is coming up more and more among clubs who are short on pitching depth. A number of teams have been linked to Oswalt, from the favorites (Rangers, Phillies, Red Sox) to the more surprising candidates (Dodgers, Orioles, Brewers). Oswalt has thrown for the three favorites as well as the Dodgers in recent weeks, and we seem to be getting close to a decision. Of...
