The Mets drew ten walks and beat the Padres by the score of 6-2, Saturday night at Petco Park.
Jeremy Hefner started for the Mets and the kid was impressive to say the least allowing just one run on five hits in his six innings of work. Hefner was poised and in control throughout his outing and didn’t allow any walks while striking out two.
The Mets got on the board early scoring four runs in the second off Edinson Volquez, who walked four batters in the inning in addition to two hits, including an RBI double to Jordany Valdespin.
Daniel Murphy was on base five times going 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored in the game and a walk.
Mike Baxter walked in all five plate appearances setting a new Mets record for a nine inning game.
