BEST OF MAXIM
The 2013 season is upon us and as our Padres prepare to take the field against the Mets I decided to look at 2013 with my rose colored glasses on and pinpoint some storylines I am optimistically looking forward to this year.
10. A win against the Dodgers at the home opener
9. Nick Hundley returning to his 2011 form.
8. The debuts of Robbie Erlin, Donn Roach, and Keyvius Sampson...
In 2008 the Padres drafted Logan Forsythe and James Darnell, 46th and 69th respectively. Both advanced hitting prospects that played third base. Both have had their professional careers derailed by the inability to stay on the field. For Padres fans, these two players should serve as a reality check. Baseball is sometimes a game of attrition. Not only is the game very hard...

The combination of a 4th place finish and a very quiet off-season has left Padres fans divided. As the founder of this website, it is frustrating that the fan base is so down on the season, but I can’t blame them. Bad trades, questionable moves, injuries, and watching the Dodgers and Giants continue to separate have taken a toll on the fan base.
The biggest headlines this season...
Well that was an ugly game to watch yesterday (Steve Adler thinks so too as you will see in the links below). There are so many questions I have about it all though that leave me scratching my head. The most glaring one has to be Edinson Volquez. He pitched for his country in the World Baseball Classic and was phenomenal for them. That was the equivalent of the world series for him...
No this is not an April Fools joke, baseball is finally back today! In fact by the time this gets posted the Padres will have already started their 2013 season. Last night was actually opening night as the Astros defeated the Rangers in Houston. Everybody starts fresh today and while experts think they can predict the outcome of the season, there will always be surprises. Let’s...
One more day left till we get to see the Padres take the field in a game that actually counts! That spring training was very long this year, and I for one am glad that is over. Now we get to see if all that work will pay off and we will also see if the numbers that occurred can carry over as well. Just a reminder that the game has an early start time tomorrow, it will be on at 10...
Jedd Gyorko earned an everyday job in the Padres` infield with a strong spring.
