Mets (31-43) vs Rockies (39-40) RHP Jeremy Hefner (2-6, 3.89) vs RHP Tyler Chatwood (4-1, 2.22) 6:10 PM • Coors Field Game Notes Shaun Marcum tossed eight scoreless innings and earned his first Mets win after an 0-9 start and the Amazin’s beat the White Sox, 3-0, Wednesday at U.S. Cellular Field for a split of their two-game series. Jeremy Hefner (2-6, 3.89 ERA) starts for the Mets against the Rockies, and he’ll be looking to claim his second straight win. Hefner hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs since May 29. He has pitched only one inning in his career against Colorado, and he gave up two earned runs in that outing — which came in relief — back on April 18. Eric Young Jr. went 3-for-4 with one-RBI on Wednesday and is hitting .414 (12-for-29) with six RBIs in seven games with the Mets. Terry Collins told reporters on Wednesday that third baseman David Wright will be given the day off on Thursday. He has been out of the starting lineup in only one other game this season. Clo...

2013 All Star Game Menu and David Wright’s Home Run Derby Jersey

Here’s a look at David Wright’s All Star Game batting practice jersey… It complete with the “C” as one of the official captains for the Home Run Derby. These are the jerseys that they will be wearing for the Home Run Derby and are different from the actual All Star Game jerseys that do not feature the skyline. Both Wright and Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees will don...

David Wright and Beach Balls

David Wright has been quietly having another very good season with the New York Mets. The quiet nature of Wright’s season has to do with the Mets overall poor performance on the diamond this year, but it’s not that he has been bad. Oftentimes, it has taken contributions from one or both of David Wright and Daniel Murphy to muster a good offensive output for the Amazin’s. Over...

David Wright To Rest Against Rockies

It wasn’t as if David Wright was going to challenge Cal Ripken in the first place. Wright will be out of the New York Mets’ lineup tonight in Colorado for their make up game against the Rockies. There was speculation Wright might lobby manager Terry Collins to keep him in the lineup. Despite being on a tear lately, Wright knew he needed a night off and being the DH in Chicago...

Game Preview: Mets @ Rockies

Fresh off a two game split with the White Sox, the Mets are heading to Colorado for a make up game. If you recall, the Mets had a large amount of outdoor games in early April in the MLB snowbelt and they a good amount of games got cancelled and moved around in Minnesota and Colorado, so the Mets are going to finish off the Colorado game today. Yesterday Marcum had a bounce back performance...

Mets’ All-Star hopefuls reach final push

With the All Star game a little more than two weeks away, prospective Mets’ all-star hopefuls have two more weeks to showcase their skills for the Mid-Summer Classic, which, as you all should know, is being held at Citi Field. The last time the Mets hosted the All-Star game was back in 1964. Just how cool would it be if—even in this sub-satisfactory season—on July 16, when...

David Aardsma settles bullpen, BABIP overachievers, Mets and HR ball

On June 7th, the Las Vegas 51s played the second game of a four-game series in Tacoma, Wash. The following day, the Mets called up reliever David Aardsma, who made the cross-county trek to Queens and pitched a scoreless inning in a day game. Starting on June 8th and the promotion of Aardsma, the Mets’ bullpen has been fantastic. Since then, relievers have 63.2 IP and have allowed...

Baseball’s All-Time Underachievers: 2006-2008 Mets?

Ken Davidoff of the NY Post ranked his Top 5 All-Time MLB Underachievers and listed the 2006-2008 Mets second behind the 1980s Expos. About why he chose the Mets, he writes: 2000s Mets. Carlos Beltran would be a Hall of Famer if he retired today. David Wright is on a Cooperstown track. Carlos Delgado probably will miss out, but he has 473 homers on his resume. Jose Reyes will go...

The New York Mets will be putting their best on display in Friday night's opener of a three-game home set against the Washington Nationals. Matt Harvey will be on the mound and David Wright will be back in the lineup for New York while the Nationals will hope to continue their winning ways when Ross Detwiler starts against the Mets. The sensational Harvey (7-1, 2.05 ERA) will...

The Matt Harvey Express Rolls Over the Phillies

If the opponents in the National league east have not become impressed with Matt Harvey, the Philadelphia Phillies have. David Wright had a up close and personal view of the Philly hitters as the Mets ace (Yes I said since earlier this season, he is the ace) made believers of the Phillies. Wright knew it was going to be a good day. He saw the surprise on Jimmy Rollins’ face after...

Off Days

David Wright had his scheduled off day on Thursday. The Mets had a good day anyway. I had an unscheduled day off from blogging. It was not a good day (or more accurately, not a good four hours). But thankfully it's over and done with enough for me to make my return. Josh Edgin and Brandon Lyon should have had Friday off. But Terry Collins brought in Edgin to face Denard...
