According to John C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Miami Marlins are emerging as favorites to land Cuban defector outfielder Yoenis Cespedes once he is allowed to sign with an MLB team.
This coming after it was reported that the Marlins were aggressively negotiating with Cespedes.
The Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles have also been reported to have interest in Cespedes as well. However, he cannot officially sign a contract with an MLB team until he is unlocked by Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
