Oakland Athletics catcher Mike Piazza (yes, believe it or not, he does still play - you can officially start scouring MLB rosters to see if Matt Williams or Mark Grace will also turn up on some team) decided to make use of this novel concept of the American legal system and request that charges be brought against an idiotic fan who chucked a water at Piazza that ended up hitting him in the batting helmet. What a novel concept - pressing charges instead of running into the stands like a crazed lunatic and inciting a melee the likes of which would make William Wallace recoail in terror...

Apples and oranges. Is there a fence seperating the players and fans in the NBA? Not that Artest wouldn't have scaled it.

Well whatever there is in MLB didn't stop Chad Kreuter from going up into the stands when he got his hat stolen. And it certainly didn't stop William Ligue Jr. from being a jackass a few years back in Chicago.

Not to defend Ron, but I do believe he is Bi-polar. In his instance, he did the right thing by getting out of the "fight" on the court and was mellowing out on the table. Then the ignorant s.o.b. tossed a cup at him and set him off.. I can't say I would have been able to hold back either, in that instance.

No doubt that idiot who threw the beer is at fault more than anyone. I'm just saying when it hits you and you're not seriously hurt, do you really need to charge into the stands and assault the WRONG fan? Granted, it was a gut reaction, and I admit I might have acted that way even though I don't think I would have...
