Opening Day is here. I guess this means it's time for me to stop being a baby and get over the way last season ended. This would be easy if it wasn't for the ___ ____Cardinals winning the ___ ____ World _______ Series and then (and then!) watching them open the season by winning without one of the greatest hitters (and __holes of all time) or their ___hole manager. The Cardinals are in first place right now and that is honestly the last thing I want to hear right now. I'd even rank it ahead of "I'm pregnant" and "Your herpes seemed to have evolved into some sort of super herpes." The Cardinals winning last night was a bigger downer than Daniel Bryan losing in 18 seconds, but.... It's a new season. A new day. Yesterday doesn't matter. Last season is nothing, but a page in the history books because the only thing that matters now is now because we can't change the past. Marty and Doc can't go back in time and make Shaun Marcum go on ...

Brewers, Greinke's agent have talked contract

MILWAUKEE The exact dollar figure and number of years hasn't yet been decided, but this much is clear about pitcher Zack Greinke's future contract status: The man is going to be compensated handsomely soon enough. Whether his demands exceed the Milwaukee Brewers' means is unknown, although general manager Doug Melvin remains optimistic about the team retaining one of...

Brewers fans give full, loud support to Braun

MILWAUKEE Box scores will show until the end of time that Ryan Braun finished Opening Day 0 for 5 at Miller Park on Friday. They won't reveal the standing ovation Braun received from a sellout crowd to acknowledge its much-maligned hometown hero, which meant more to Braun than any season-opening base hit likely could. "I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart...

Ishikawa Beats Out Conrad For Final Roster Spot

Things came down to just about the final at bat between second baseman Brooks Conrad and first baseman Travis Ishikawa, but it was Ishikawa that prevailed.  He earned the final spot on the Brewers 25 man roster to start the season when many assumed it would be Conrad because of his ability to play the middle of the infield.  Conrad will start the season...

New-look Cards deliver same old pain to Crew

MILWAUKEE One game does not make a baseball season. One opponent does not fill out an entire schedule. The Milwaukee Brewers should feel fortunate on both fronts because the sight of the St. Louis Cardinals recently has been enough to make them feel sick to their stomach. Nearly six months had passed since the Cardinals crushed the Brewers' hopes of a World Series appearance...

Brewers Drop Opener, Will Be OK

Baseball returned today, with some 46,000 fans packing into Miller Park to watch the Brewers face the hated Cardinals, and with it the return of tailgating and sausage races in earnest. The weather was excellent for the beginning of April, and the excitement and energy of the crowd still tangible through a TV screen or Twitter feed. If Joe Attanasio's rendition of the national...

On the Farm: Introducing the 2012 Huntsville Stars

We're past the halfway point in our look at the Opening Day rosters and that means the double-A Huntsville Stars are up.  This team is loaded with talent that could be very close to the Major league level and in fact a few of them may see call-ups in September, assuming the Brewers aren't locked in a tight race that is.  Opening Day for the Stars takes place against the...
