It seems that most have acknowledged what most of us already knew, the Brewers are out on Prince Fielder. So, that leaves that the Brewers to pick up the pieces. That being said, TPR is still very bullish on the Brewers even if they do nothing to address the hole they have at first base. Naturally, that is not the only hole the Brewers have on the team. They had more free agents than just about any team and they haven’t retained a single one to date. That’s because they quietly have built a solid farm system that will fill some of those holes. Still, they would like to address some needs this week. If Fielder does in fact leave, they will have some wiggle room in free agency. Infield Jonathan Lucroy has become a solid backstop, so most of the issues reside on the actual infield. Rickie Weeks will be back and stands as the last regular left. He had a very good campaign last season if you take away the several weeks he missed. The rest of the infield is unsettled to say th...

Who's in on Prince Fielder sweepstakes?

All eyes are on Albert, but which teams are in on the Prince Fielder sweepstakes?

Winter Meetings Day 3: More Rumors

Things are starting to heat up on the Prince Fielder front, now that it appears Albert Pujols is down to 3 teams (the Cardinals, Angels and a mystery team). Although Jon Heyman tweeted yesterday that the Cubs' interest in Prince Fielder is sincere and Fielder is apparently interested in the Cubs, Cubs' GM Jed Hoyer told Paul Sullivan that the Cubs' pursuit of Fielder...

Fielder in the Orange and Black...

The Winter Meetings started Monday in the deep heart of Texas, and the Orioles along with the other 29 teams in the sport are conducting business for next year. Right now, Baltimore needs pitching, pitching and more pitching as Buck Showalter and Dan Duquette have stated to the masses during the past few days. As most everyone in the media has stated, the Orioles will be trying...

Brewers appear to be out on Prince Fielder

With the Winter Meetings already underway,

Cubs Going to Make a Serious Run At Prince Fielder

The Chicago Cubs were lukewarm on Albert Pujols because of his age not fitting in with the plan. The Cubs are reportedly more hot on Prince Fielder due to his age, and plan on making a serious run at the big man from Milwaukee according to a tweet by Buster Olney. I’ve said a few times that the Cubs shouldn’t make a run at Prince unless it’s a 5 year contract. I...

Buck doesn't expect O's to vie for Fielder

While executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette didn't totally dismiss the notion of the Orioles being interested in free-agent slugger Prince Fielder, all signs point to it being highly unlikely that the coveted first baseman ends up in Baltimore.

The Brewers know Prince Fielder has played his last game as a Brewer

This news stems from a Buster Olney tweet, but I don’t like linking tweets in case for some reason that twitter account gets hacked and the tweet gets deleted or in case Buster Olney leaves ESPN and is no longer twitter handle ‘Buster_ESPN’ and all that good stuff. So I’ll link Hardball Talk where I originally read the post. Brewers indicating to others they...

Keeping an eye on the Prince

(Photo by Scott Boehm/Getty Images) Everybody who cares about the Red Sox, even the tiniest bit, should be paying close attention to Prince Fielder's free agency.  Because, right now, it's looking more than likely that he's not only going to wind up in the American League, but possibly the American League East. How does a 1-2 punch of Jose Bautista and Prince...

Recapping Day 1 of the Winter Meetings for the Nationals

Despite their desire to make a big splash at the meetings, the Washington Nationals were no where to be found on Day 1 of the MLB Winter Meetings.  Unless you count conflicting rumors flying off the handle about the teams interest in CJ Wilson, Mark Buehrle, Prince Fielder, and even Albert Pujols.  Here's what we know about the Nats after one day of negotiating. The Nationals...

Winter Meetings 2012 Day

Unfortunately I won't be around my computer much today to keep up on the rumors, but feel free to bombard the comments. I won't be on twitter much either to update the right sidebar, so it's up to you guys, although Cubnut may be on twitter some to keep that going. Latest Cubs news is that they did offer Albert Pujols a contract, one considerably shorter than the 10-year...

Pricey free agents don't fit into plans, Dodgers' Ned Colletti says

The club is cutting payroll in 2012, so taking on Prince Fielder or anyone else who would demand a large salary is not feasible, the general manager says.Reporting from Dallas -- Prince Fielder is there for the taking. The Dodgers aren't playing, but Ned Colletti had a thought.

Jack Zduriencik indicates he's keeping close watch on market for Prince Fielder

The first day of the Prince Fielder sweepstakes was notable more for the number of teams insisting they won't go after him than the other...
