The Philadelphia Phillies AAA affiliate Lehigh Valley IronPigs will be the first team to implement a “urinal gaming” system in its Coca Cola Stadium gentleman’s rooms.  According to Jon Schaeffer on MiLB.com Coca-Cola Park in the Allentown, PA, stadium is the worlds first to implement this “technology.”  IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes described the technology with a lot of potty humor (pun intended): “These games are sure to make a huge splash…our fans are always looking for the next big thing and these ‘X-Stream games’ are another example of our commitment to providing an unparalleled entertainment experience in all aspects of Coca-Cola Park, including our restrooms.” Scores will be kept and fans will see how they stack against competition.  As for what the games are, here’s a sampling from the article There are a number of games planned for the 2013 season, including alpine skiing, which allows users to speed their way through snowy mountains on a snowmobile while attempting to hit cartoon penguins (seriously). The games will rotate throughout the season to provide users with a unique experience. I don’t know what the penguins did to deserved this, but I’ve been assured that no actual wildlife will be harmed during the gaming.  The Lehigh Valley Health Network is sponsoring the technology and will mix in some prostate health information as collateral. For the full technology demonstration, check out the You Tube ad Coca-Cola Park is the three-time attendance champion for the Minors, drawing well over 600,000 fans.  I’m assuming between the Coca-Cola products served, as well as a sudsy malt beverage here and there, the new  gaming system stands to get regular use throughout the summer.  As a fan, I’d be sure to hydrate up BEFORE the game to maximize my gaming opportunities during the experience. And I’d be hardpressed to think this won’t migrate it’s way into all stadium venues sooner than later. - Dave (@lhd_on_sports) Follow us on Twitter @rbts_baseball   The post Minor League baseball team to feature urinal gaming appeared first on Reading Between The Seams.

Phillies Looking For Outfield Help?

The infield is set.  The race for the final bullpen spot is likely down to either Phillippe Aumont or Michael Stutes.  But what about the Phillies outfield? Michael Young: Still much more to offer

It’s a beautiful, sunny day here in Clearwater Bill, Connie and I take our front row seats in the Tiki Terrace. We usually take this opportunity to verbally support our Phil’s and torment any opponent that comes in ear shot, ” Hey Skippy”, Twins outfielder. As we go thru our linage of insults I spot one player going thru his stretches and playing catch. All the while conversing...
