Scranton/Wilkes-Barre dropped to the Columbus Clippers on Wednesday as Cody Eppley was charged with three runs in the eighth inning to blow a then 4-2 lead. Wednesday was a “bullpen game” for the RailRiders, who gave the start to relief pitcher Ryan Pope. He and top prospect Mark Montgomery combined to pitch the RailRiders through the first 5.1 innings, holding the Clippers in check. Addison Maruszak came off the bench to play right field and led the RailRiders with two hits on the day. Designated hitter Cody Johnson hit his first home run of the season with a fourth inning shot off Trevor Bauer and David Adams brought home two runs with an RBI single in the seventh inning.
