Last year, the Oakland Athletics shocked the entire universe by sweeping the Texas Rangers to end the season and lay claim to the American League West division title. It was an incredible turn of events, considering the Rangers and Los Angeles Angels were heavy favorites to win the division in 2012. The Athletics' magical run is proof that anything can happen in baseball. Pitching is everything and a clubhouse full of hungry guys that do the little things necessary to win can trump any payroll of any size.
