The Detroit Tigers Joel Zumaya is opting to rest and try to rehabilitate his injured elbow as opposed to exploratory surgery according to Tigers beat writer Jason Beck. If the course of rest and rehab works and there are no setback, Zumaya could be back with the Tigers in June. Surgery would probably end the relievers season. Zumaya has in the past said that he would choose to retire instead of going through another surgery. It will be interesting to see what he does if the rest and rehab option does not work. Zumaya was once one of the best relief pitchers in baseball before injuries derailed his career. Hopefully he can recover, put his injury woes behind him, and get back to the back end of the Tigers bullpen.
