Johnny Damon would bring a clutch hitter and additional top of the lineup guy to the Yankees if signed to DH in New York in 2012. The New York Yankees have kept a low profile this offseason other then for about an hour where they rebuilt their starting rotation with a four player trade and a free agent signing. The free spending team even has used the word budget. All and all it has been an odd offseason for the Bronx Bombers.The Yankees have one more need this offseason and it is the role of Designated Hitter. They signed Andruw Jones who can handle left handed pitching and could be a platoon at the position. They could piece meal against right handers using internal candidates including Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, and Derek Jeter. They could also sign one of the players they have been linked to in free agency. Two names that continue to surface are Johnny Damon and Carlos Pena.
