Mets Merized Online:
New York Mets
The MetsMerizedOnline Player of the Month for the month of April has shown he has a great impact on this team. This month, the Mets had a record of 13-10. Here is our MMO Player of the Month for April 2012.
Through the use of the scorecard, let’s take a look at how David Wright did this month:
David Wright only missed three games this month, all due to a fractured finger, and during those three games, the Mets went 1-2. He had 3 home runs. This year, he has looked stellar.
These players, although not winning the Player of the Month award, had a very strong showing this month and deserve to be recognized. We will also show how strong a showing they had through the use of the scorecard.
BEST OF MAXIM
Well the Mets certainly had an interesting series in Denver this weekend. They got smoked in the first game losing 18-9, they were down twice in the second game but won 7-5, and today after blowing a 4-0 lead for Johan Santana, they won in extra innings 6-5 in spite of the bullpen’s worst efforts. As a typical series at Coors Field, the offense enjoyed the visit, and the pitching...
This time, it was the Mets’ bullpen that betrayed Johan Santana. The Mets finally scored runs for him, but the bullpen blew a four-run lead in the eighth inning with Tim Byrdak serving a grand slam homer to Todd Helton.
Another no-decision for Santana, who is still looking for his first victory since September 2010.
I know Santana doesn’t regret the money, but there are times...
Lucas Duda is still under the weather and Mike Nickeas is battling the flu also. The Mets are considering bringing up back-up catcher if Nickeas doesn't start to feel better. Mike Baxter is the back-up catcher tonight.
Daniel Murphy gets his first breather of the year, and Justin Turner gets the start at 2B.
Tonight's Mets Lineup:
1. Nieuwenhuis - LF
2. Tejada - SS...
Much has been made in the media about the abundance of home-grown players starting on a regular basis in the Mets lineup. From Tejada to Murphy, Thole to Duda, and Ike to Kirk, up and down the entire lineup features players drafted and groomed by the Mets minor league system. It kind of brings a feel good story for us long suffering Mets fans. It definitely makes it a little...
Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey will undergo Tommy John surgery today on his right (pitching) elbow. Pelf suffered a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament during his start last week.
Pelfrey's injury will really change the landscape for Mets pitching. Chris Schwinden will start tomorrow, but he has been less than impressive in his 5 professional starts dating back to last...
It's crazy what we do to ourselves on a nightly basis. We hang on every pitch, RBI opportunity, and managerial decision. We are die hard Mets fans, but sometimes we need to remember that hindsight is always 20/20 and the Mets won't win every game.Series like the one the team is in now against the Houston Astros are frustrating. Going into the three game set, the Mets had...
The Mets are the only team that have a winning record in the majors and have EVERY minor league affiliate over .500. Buffalo (AAA) is 14-10 and in second place in the North Division in the International League. Binghamton (AA) is 12-11 and in third place in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division. St. Lucie (A) has the best record in the Florida State League at 20-4. Savannah (A...

The Week That Was: April 23rd – April 29th
The Binghamton Mets played .500 ball this past week, losing two of three at home against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, while winning two of three on the road in Erie, PA over the weekend. More importantly, though, was the return of Reese Havens against Erie on Sunday (where he promptly hit his...
Fans of the New York Metropolitans haven't had much to celebrate in recent seasons. Their last winning record was 89-73 in 2008, after Jerry Manuel took over for Willie Randolph midseason. Compared to the doom and gloom many predicted for the Mets, the start of this young season has been a pleasant surprise for fans from Flushing. The Mets are three games over .500, trailing...
Before I get to the poll, I want to give you some background information to explain why I’m asking this question.
I just had a debate on Facebook with a couple of guys about the Mets. The debate started with a pessimistic Mets fan named Jesse posting a sarcastic status update:
“[The Mets] lost to the astros…..yea we are a good team”
Jesse also told me:
“Be a realistic...
The Mets win a three game weekend series against the Rockies, taking the rubber game 6-5 in eleven innings. This was a really strange series where we pretty much saw the unexpected. The Mets scored 9 runs on Friday night, only to see the Rocks score 18! One guy hit for the cycle, another hit a grand slam pitch hit home run, certainly not your generic, run of mill series.
Mets Blob strongly feels that without the skintight, multicolor uniforms, the team that plays in Houston has no business calling themselves the Astros. Real Astros look like the two far out dudes pictured above. Clearly, Nolan Ryan is trying his Texas best to look un-gay in that getup but he's about two bourbons away from reaching back and working JR Richard with his hand.The...
If 3 & 3 were to borrow a page from the long running children’s show Sesame Street, this edition would be sponsored by the letters P & U. Those two letters sum up how the Mets performed in this three game series. We were so hard pressed to come up with 3 “Ups”, our guys from SNY make their season debut in that category.
