TEAMS: Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians
From blown leads, to blown saves, to being on the wrong end of a perfect game, the Mariners week that was, was more like the week that wasn’t.
One win out of six tries at home.
Not much to promote here, and making too much fun of them might get me killed, so I am only doing a top five list this week.
Sorry to disappoint any of you.
#5: Iwukuma finally gets in a gameIt only took a mere 15 games for Hisashi Iwukuma to get in a game, but the wait was worth it. Coming in for some mop up work, he shut down the White Sox in his three innings of work.
More on this in my My oh My! column this week.
#4: Felix pitches a gemIn game three of the Cleveland series, Felix Hernandez handed the ball, and the game over to Brandon League with a one run lead in the ninth. All League had to do was record three simple outs to preserve the win for Felix.

League blows save, Felix loses his win
But in the tradition of Mariners baseball, that was no easy task. League blows save, Felix loses his win.
#3: The M’s win, the M’s win.New staff ace Jason Vargas propelled the M’s to their one and only win of the week against the Tribe. And, wait for it…Chone Figgins went deep as well.
His average may not be where the Mariners hoped it would be, but Figgins has provided a little more spark than he has in the past couple years.
#2: PerfectionNow I’m not taking anything away from the White Sox or their pitcher whose name I will refuse to put in this article, but for a team that seems to strive for mediocrity, or sometimes even less, going a perfect 27 for 27 without a hit or even a base runner is something to brag about!
#1 There’s no place like homeWith the home stand finally done, the Mariners can look forward to getting back out on the road again, a place where they actually seem to be able to hit the ball.
Whoever said that home field advantage was a plus in this game, has never seen your 2012 Mariners at Safeco!
