AJ Burnett made it pretty obvious last night that he doesn’t want the Pirates to throw him in the trash the way the Yankees did after he gave up 12 runs in less than three innings in his last start. Well, it was pretty hard not to forgive the guy after he pitched eight innings against the Nationals last night and struck out while just giving up two runs in the Buccos 5-4 win....

Rod Barajas hit a two-run homer off Washington closer Henry Rodriguez with two outs in the ninth to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night.

I don't know how to accurately describe the frustration that this game caused me watching it. The Pirates were very patient with Mat Latos in the first inning and drew three walks and were a nice Todd Frazier snag of a Casey McGehee line drive away from making breaking the inning open. Instead, they got nothing out of the first and never really threatened to score again all afternoon...

Pirates 5, Nationals 4: Rod beats HRod, etc. Joel Hanrahan does his best 2009 Joel Hanrahan with the Nats impression (GASCANRAHAN!) in the top of the 9th. Then Henry Rodriguez one-ups him with a better 2009 Joel Hanrahan with the Nats impression (Gascanhenrycan!) in the bottom of the 9th.
