So, this weekend was pretty exciting given that the Reds pitchers and catchers reported for their first day of spring training. Here is a link to the Reds roster and here is a list of the non-roster invites. The Cincinnati Enquirer has up a photo gallery from the weekend if you want to check it out. It is really nice to see the guys out there and on a baseball field. Having baseball back is awesome, especially since there is about 5 inches of snow outside as I type this and it is still falling. Mark Sheldon has up an article on the opening of spring training at Reds.com. He talks with some of the pitchers about the excitement to be back to baseball activities. Zack Cozart told John Fay that he is 100% after his Tommy John surgery last August. “The last two weeks, I’ve been taking BP and really cutting it loose,” he said. “I feels really good.” Sounds good, because the Reds really need Cozart to be an asset due to their complete lack of other options that could even be close to avera...

Reds P Bailey bulks up to prevent injuries

GOODYEAR, Ariz. Homer Bailey was on a diet to die for eat, eat, eat, eat and eat some more. His intention was to gain weight, add some strength to his thermometer-thin body, maybe avoid the nagging injuries that have oft-interrupted his Cincinnati Reds pitching career. Top 15 Prospects: Cincinnati Reds

I was prepared to write all sorts of glowing comments about the state of Cincinnati’s minor league system… but then a funny thing happened. The organization acquired one of the top arms in the National League at the cost of three key young prospects. Even with the trade dust now settled, though, the farm system still boasts some high ceiling prospects, as well as a plethora...

What could the opening day lineup look like?

It’s early, so early in fact that making a guess at the opening day lineup when only pitchers and catchers have reported is silly. But, I am going to do it anyway. I will start by making a couple of assumptions: Cueto is going to be the opening day starter. Cozart is going to come back, 100% to the form that we saw for a short period last season. So with those two assumptions...
