Discussing more theories on the demise of Andy Marte, Victor Martinez's love for the game is unquestioned, Hector Rondon is fun to watch, Kirk Saarloos is versatile and Masa Kobayashi may be out of the WBC before he's even told so.

  • The timing of getting Salas is odd. I hope you're right and they have something lined up for moving Marte for some decent return. I just have a vision in my head of him going elsewhere and having Brandon Phillips type success. Does Wedge have problems relating to some players or maybe the better question is does his motivational style not get through to some? I learned decades ago that a boss that tries to influence every employee the same way is sure to fail. Got to know your folks and push the right buttons for each.
  • The biggest thing I have with Wedge is the confidence he DOESN'T show in young players. I think that might have hurt Marte early by him not playing him or him yanking him in pressure situations. He did it with Barfield before, he's done it with other young players, just taking them out late in the game, even in a lost season. It shows no confidence, and while it isn't "killing" a player, it really is a wasted opportunity to try and show the player the manager believes in him.

Marte was not traded though and he's on waivers now, so we'll see where it leads, but I really think the Indians were upset with him and his weight.
