The first place (yes, it sounds nice to say that) New York Mets open up a three game set at Citi Field starting tonight at 7:10PM. The starting pitching matchup is defintely prime time stuff; Derek Lowe (who the Mets could have signed instead of Oliver Perez) vs the best pitcher in baseball, Johan Santana.
Both pitchers come in with 4-1 records, but Johan is pitching to a remarkable 0.91 ERA! In, fact, Santana could quite easily be 6-0, but, I will stop complaining.
The weather should be fine, 61 degrees at first pitch, division rivalry and a great pitching matchup---sounds like a great night to be out at Citi Field supporting the Mets and enjoying some great baseball!
The Mets enter the series at 17-13, 2.5 up on the Braves. The Mets as we are all aware, are riding a seven game winning streak. I realize there is the slight, slight, slight possibility that the streak may end some day, just hopefully not tonight. I think Johan Santana deserves to win another Cy Young award and I would love it to happen this season.

-
starting pitchers; 5/13: Jon Niese( 0-0, 3.00) vs Jo-Jo Reyes (0-2, 5.48)
