Found October 19, 2011 on The Power Zone:
The World Series is set to get under way in just a few hours. The Texas Rangers have a repeat trip to the World Series thanks to their amazing bullpen, and the St Louis Cardinals have finished off an improbable rally in the standings just to get to the World Series.

Here is my prediction as to who will win:

I think the Texas Rangers are going to take advantage of their second trip to the World Series. The Rangers can score with any man in their lineup. Nelson Cruz had a historic ALCS with six homeruns. He will need to hit some homeruns with men on base in this series if the Rangers are to win this thing. I pick the Rangers to pull it out in five games.

Rangers, ALCS MVP Cruz Gear Up For Unlikely World Series Pairing

If you’re going to get to the World Series anyway, you might as well set some record along the way. How about six home runs and 13 RBI in just six games of a championship series? In total, Texas slugger Nelson Cruz amassed eight hits in the series against Detroit, all for extra bases.  His ludicrous slugging percentage of 1.273 was key to the Rangers’ success, as he...

Nelson Cruz: The player no one wanted ... until now

You do not have to look hard or ask many questions to find how the Texas Rangers feel about right fielder Nelson Cruz.

Cruz comes up short and so do Rangers in WS opener

Nelson Cruz sprinted over to the foul line, desperately trying to run down Allen Craig's tailing liner. The right fielder came up just short, and so did the Texas Rangers.

Rangers have power outage in World Series opener

Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz and the homer-happy Texas Rangers experienced another power outage in the opening game of the World Series. This time, they hope the juice gets flowing again before it's too late. The big hitters in the Rangers' potent lineup fizzled in Game 1 on Wednesday night. Baffled by Chris Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals' reliable bullpen, Texas...

What's become of Josh Hamilton?

ST. LOUIS When Nelson Cruz is blasting six home runs in the ALCS, it's easy to look past what's going on with center fielder Josh Hamilton. It's not like he's disappeared in the postseason, but he certainly hasn't been himself. Hamilton went 0-for-4 in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday and looked overmatched against the Cardinals' long-in-the-tooth...

From Left Field: Players With Mets Ties In World Series

Though once again we will be watching two teams other than the Mets in the Fall Classic, this year’s series features several players with Met ties. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Texas Rangers win their first ever World Series, but I would more so like to see the former Mets play well. Texas has five players/personnel with Mets ties. ALCS MVP Nelson Cruz was actually a Met farmhand...

No Reason to Panic

When Nelson Cruz flew out to left field to end Wednesday night's World Series opener with a 3-2 win for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Texas Rangers definitely got off on the wrong foot. The winner of Game 1 has won 12 of the last 14 World Series. When a home team wins Game 1, they haven't lost the World Series since 1993. But there's no need for the Rangers to panic...

Rangers' big hitters fizzle in Game 1 (AP)

The first thing that comes to mind when Rangers fans think of no-hitters is that guy sitting somewhere near the dugout, the fireballer who pitched seven of them before moving into the front office and becoming the team's president and CEO. They certainly don't think of Nelson Cruz, Josh Hamilton and the rest of their potent offense.

Rangers 2, Cardinals 3 through 7 innings

Rangers-Cards matchup figures to be a smash hit
