Fox Sports Southwest:
ARLINGTON, Texas Longtime Texas Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel has been tabbed as the 15th member of the team's Hall of Fame.
Nadel will be inducted in a ceremony before the Aug. 11 game against Detroit.
"This is an incredible honor for me," said Nadel, who found out about it in spring training. "To be part of a select group that includes true stars of our sport, people like Nolan (Ryan), Sunny (Jim Sundberg) and Fergie (Jenkins) and all the not only guys I've covered and in some ways my heroes over the years. To be part of that group just seems so improbable to me."
Nadel, the 15th member of the Hall of Fame, is the fifth voted in as a non-player. He joins Johnny Oates (2003), Tom Vandergriff (2004), Mark Holtz (2005) and Tom Grieve.
Nadel has been working with the Rangers for 34 years, the last 18 as the lead voice on the radio broadcasts. His streak is the longest in the history of the franchise and he second only to Kansas City's Denny Matthews in the American League.
"When they say the voice of the Rangers, he truly is that, the voice of the Rangers," Ryan said. "The listening audience develops a very special relationship with whatever the voice of whatever ball club it is. They come into their home each night or their workplace or wherever they're listening and they develop a rapport with them. I think Eric does that extremely well."
He's also been a finalist for the Ford C. Frick Award each of the last two seasons. Nadel got his start with the Rangers in 1979 and began working with Holtz in 1982
Nadel, who is already a member of the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame, has been tabbed the Texas Sportscaster of the Year seven times.
He's been on the air for some of the biggest moments in team history, calling Nolan Ryan's 5,000th career strikeout, the 30-run game against Boston as well as the team's run to the World Series each of the last two years. He said the highlight was the Neftali Feliz strikeout of Alex Rodriguez in the American League Championship Series that sent the Rangers to the World Series for the first time.

ARLINGTON, Texas Batting ninth in the lineup is not the optimal place to provide spark to an offense, but Rangers center fielder Craig Gentry made the most of it Wednesday.
Gentry got on base twice with a bunt single and an infield hit, the latter producing a run during the Rangers' only scoring rally in a 4-1 win over the A's.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington was upset with a close pitch call by the home plate umpire that went against his team in the top of the seventh inning during Sunday night's game in Arlington against the Los Angeles Angels. It was dog night at the ballpark, and I’m not sure the canine spectators or their human counterparts enjoyed tonight’s game. I know I didn’t. But at least I was at home, so I could get up and go do something else.
Colby Lewis looked terrible. It was almost a repeat of last week’s start in Baltimore … but without as many home runs … and more throwing errors. The...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Kansas City starter Bruce Chen was changing speeds, moving pitches inside and outside.

"Against that lineup, he was unbelievable," Royals catcher Brayan Pena...
Not even the weather could stop Yu Darvish in his most recent trip to the mound, and it seems unlikely the light-hitting Oakland Athletics will either.
The Texas Rangers look to continue their dominance of the visiting A's by giving the ball to Darvish in the opener of this two-game set Wednesday night.
Darvish (5-1, 2.84 ERA) has won all three starts at Rangers Ballpark behind...
