ARLINGTON, Texas Longtime Texas Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel has been tabbed as the 15th member of the team's Hall of Fame.
Nadel will be inducted in a ceremony before the Aug. 11 game against Detroit.
"This is an incredible honor for me," said Nadel, who found out about it in spring training. "To be part of a select group that includes true stars of our sport, people like Nolan (Ryan), Sunny (Jim Sundberg) and Fergie (Jenkins) and all the not only guys I've covered and in some ways my heroes over the years. To be part of that group just seems so improbable to me."
Nadel, the 15th member of the Hall of Fame, is the fifth voted in as a non-player. He joins Johnny Oates (2003), Tom Vandergriff (2004), Mark Holtz (2005) and Tom Grieve.
Nadel has been working with the Rangers for 34 years, the last 18 as the lead voice on the radio broadcasts. His streak is the longest in the history of the franchise and he second only to Kansas City's Denny ...
