Found September 14, 2012 on Pro Sports Daily:
The bad thing about consecutive saves streaks: They are all going to end. And when they do, it's going to be painful. The Texas Rangers and Joe Nathan found that out Thursday when the ultra-reliable closer, pitching for a third consecutive day, could not protect a freshly built two-run lead in a 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Nathan allowed four hits and did not retire a batter while giving up three runs. It ended Nathan's club-record (and personal-best) save streak at 31 straight. "That's where we wanted to be," manager Ron Washington said, "giving the ball to Joe. It just didn't happen." It was the third time this season Nathan has pitched at least three consecutive days. He had not done it, however, since late June. It appeared that he had little on his pitches Thursday. Nathan, who earlier this season had an injection in his shoulder to alleviate inflammation, acknowledged the possibility of having a "dead arm." "I...

Adams dealing with tight right trapezius muscle

ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers could be without set-up man Mike Adams for the next few days as he deals with a tight trapezius muscle in his right shoulder. Adams felt it Tuesday night in the eighth inning against Cleveland. He allowed two runs in 23 of an inning. He said the muscle tightened up on him during the outing and gradually got worse. He said it felt like he was shot...

Injuries to Beltre, Hamilton aren't serious

ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers got some good news on the injury front one night after seeing three players leave the game in a 5-2 victory over Cleveland. An MRI on the left shoulder of Adrian Beltre revealed no structural damage but slight inflammation. He is not in the starting lineup Thursday and is listed as day-to-day. Josh Hamilton, who left the game with a sore left...

Hamilton back in Texas lineup

Slugger Josh Hamilton is back in the Texas Rangers lineup after getting an injection to lubricate his sore left knee. Hamilton, who leads the majors with 41 home runs and 121 RBIs, said before Friday night's game against Seattle that his knee was already feeling ''90 percent better than it did before.'' Hamilton came out late in Wednesday night's game and...

Rangers hold breath on Beltre, Hamilton, Olt injuries

For the 10th time this season, Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton homered in the same game Wednesday night. The Texas Rangers can only hope it's not the last chance they get. While the Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians 5-2 on Wednesday to guarantee they'd lose no ground on teams pursuing them in the AL West and AL home-field advantage races, they did lose three players...

Rangers' Uehara pitches in fourth straight game

On a day when the bullpen was exceptionally thin, righty Koji Uehara went where no Rangers reliever has gone this season. He went to the mound for a fourth consecutive day. With righties Mike Adams and Joe Nathan unavailable due to fatigue/soreness issues and Alexi Ogando being held back to close out the game, if needed, Uehara gave the Rangers a perfect eighth inning in...

Hamilton, Beltre not starting against Cleveland

Texas center fielder Josh Hamilton and third baseman Adrian Beltre are not in the starting lineup because of injuries. Hamilton received an injection for his sore left knee Wednesday night and is expected to be return for the Rangers' game Friday night against Seattle. Consistency makes Beltre valuable

Every year at the Major League Baseball winter meetings, Commissioner Bud Selig addresses the assembled cash providers and architects of the 30 teams and proceeds to roast one. He basically chooses the worst deal of the offseason, and in 2011 he believed that to be the Texas Rangers' signing of Adrian Beltre for five years and $80 million. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels...

Darvish goes over 200Ks as Rangers rookie

Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish has recorded the 200th strikeout of his debut season in the major leagues. Darvish became the first major league rookie to reach that mark since Daisuke Matsuzaka struck out 201 batters for Boston in 2007. After Seattle right fielder Carlos Peguero led off the fifth with a strikeout, Darvish's fourth of the game and 200th of the season...

Rangers Beltre leaves with strained shoulder

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has left Wednesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians with a strained left shoulder. Beltre landed hard on his left side when he made a diving stop of Russ Canzler's grounder in the second inning. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre homered before each left the game with injuries, and the Texas Rangers beat the slumping Cleveland Indians 5-2 Wednesday night. No, Tony Romo didn't make a special guest appearance during the Rangers' batting practice on Tuesday night.
