New York Mets
WASHINGTON - Bryce Harper's triple drove home the tying run in the 10th inning and Ryan Zimmerman scored the game-winner on a wild pitch later in the 10th as the Washington Nationals rallied twice after blowing a ninth-inning lead for a 5-4 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Owners of the best record in the National league, the Nationals (52-36) have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games. They also have defeated their division rival in five of seven games this season. The Mets (46-44) have lost a season-high five straight games and fell seven games behind the NL East leaders. What began as a pitcher's duel through seven innings turned into a messy bullpen affair as both teams lost leads in the ninth inning and traded advantages in the final frame. Mets pinch-hitter Jordany Valdespin's three-run homer in the ninth turned a two-run deficit into a 3-2 lead, but Danny Espinosa's two-out single in the bottom of the inning tied the score. ...

Here's video (via MLB.com) of Bryce Harper's fantastic game-ending catch/collision with Steve Lombardozzi to end a 4-0 Nats win that turned into a nailbiter in the 9th. Pretty eventful day for Harper in Miami, eh?

Those who were expecting nonstop quotes mixed in with a solid amount of controversy once Bryce Harper got called up to the big leagues have been extremely disappointed. Harper has said and done all the right things since joining the Nationals. That is, if you ask anyone besides Ozzie Guillen. The Marlins manager was furious with Harper on Sunday but would not say what had him so...
NICE GESTURE, BRO
To lighten the mood after Ozzie Guillen called Bryce Harper "unprofessional," the Nationals sent the Marlins skipper a bat autographed by Harper.
MASN's Kristina Akra talked to Bryce Harper after last night's walkoff thriller (video of the interview here); asked if Harper thought about scoring on his game-tying triple in the 10th after the ball rolled to the Mets dugout.
Akra: "As you see the ball rolling towards the dugout, how bad did you want to jump up and go home."Harper: "I was tryin...
Bryce Harper has taken the Major League by storm and has created a storm of his own with Miami Marlin manager Ozzie Guillen. Three years ago, Harper became the youngest baseball player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and he is living up to his hype. The fearless 19-year old is batting third best on his team, taking on clown-reporters (which you may have heard your boyfriend...
Now that we've made it past the All-Star break, Ryan Zimmerman is due for another cortisone cocktail, according to the Washington Post. The shot in his shoulder will reduce inflammation in his AC joint, and prevent him from feeling pain when he hits. Zimmerman said that the ability he regained after receiving the shot made him “happier,” and it has been making Nationals fans...
Remember, kids, you don’t want to forget to fill your ESPN cutlines before going live with graphics because there is a guy out there waiting to bust your ass for the error. Next thing you know it’s on Twitter & dorky Internet guys are LOLing at you. In other sports news, the halo on a Joe Paterno mural in State College has been modified. The halo has been painted over! Meanwhile...
We could separate outfielders into separate positions, but quite frankly not every position has enough players to make the list of five. When we make it ten outfielders for the three position we really see a compelling list of outfielders. The best two young players in the game happen to be in the outfield. They are both center fielders, so center field is obviously...
Above: Mike Morse dumps a (smallish) bucket of ice water on Adam LaRoche and Ryan Zimmerman after Zim scored the game winning run on a wild pitch in the 10th.
Nationals 5, Mets 4: Amazin' Nats tie it in the 9th, win it in the 10th on a Pedro Beato wild pitch. Chalk up another walk-off for Ryan Zimmerman.
Poor Ross Detwiler deserved the W, but Tyler Clippard blew it...
