According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, the Nationals have avoided arbitration with left handed pitcher Doug Slaten by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $695,000 plus incentives. Slaten will make a $5,000 bonus once he reaches 60 innings and an additional $12,500 if he reaches 70 innings.

Slaten was 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 40,2 innings throughout 49 games in 2010 with the Nationals.
