Found April 25, 2013 on Holdout Sports:
Washington Nationals relief pitcher Ryan Mattheus created a unique rally cap in the bullpen during Wednesday's afternoon game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Nationals were down early as the Cards scored three runs in the first inning. Mattheus created his unique look by flipping his cap inside out and attaching Gatorade cups to his ears in the middle of a sixth inning rally attempt. Mattheus' efforts did seem to work, as Bryce Harper was able to drive in a run in the sixth. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to bring the Nats all the way back, as they lost to the Cardinals 4-2. Meet Anthony Rendon's tattoos

In our first installment of "Get to know Anthony Rendon before he gets sent back to Harrisburg when Zim gets back even if he's hitting .900", we focused on how Rendon talks fast in postgame interviews, and that Jayson Werth made him carry his bag. Tonight, something else we didn't know about Rendon until a clip on Nats Xtra on MASN before Tuesday night's Nats...

Gio Gonzalez's collection of Nats starting rotation bobbleheads

Heck of a start by Gio Gonzalez last night against the Reds, no? Meanwhile, Gio posted the photo above (Photo via giog47 on Instagram) of his collection of Nats starting rotation bobbleheads in his locker at Nationals Park a few days ago: Jordan Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, and Gio Gonzalez. Anybody missing? "All I'm missing is Ross and Haren

Zimmerman’s Injury Could be a Blessing in Disguise For Nationals

When Washington Nationals’ top prospect Anthony Rendon was called up from AA Harrisburg after Saturday’s win against the New York Mets, many fans and pundits across baseball wondered how the injury to Ryan Zimmerman could affect the Nationals and their “World Series or bust” proclamation by Manager Davey Johnson. While this injury seems like it could have a negative impact...

Nats fans sacrificed a rubber chicken at Nationals Park today...

In an attempt to help the Nationals break out of their April doldrums, Nationals fan Hugh Kaufman led a ritual sacrifice of a rubber chicken outside the center field gate at Nationals Park at high noon before Thursday night's Nats-Reds game. Apparently sage was also burned at Jayson Werth's behest. Well, at least in the early stages of Thursday night's game, it seems...

Can Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper break Roger Maris’ single-season record of 61 home runs in 2013?

With seven dingers in 74 appearances at the plate, Washington Nationals wunderkind Bryce Harper seems destined to honestly challenge Roger Maris’ single-season record of 61 home runs. Technically, Mark McGwire (70) and Sammy Sosa (66) in 1998 and Barry Bonds (73) in 2001 already surpassed Maris’ mark. However, considering the trio of McGwire, Sosa and Bonds used enough performance...

Strasburg takes fourth loss of year as Cards beat Nats

Stephen Strasburg took his fourth loss of the season on Wednesday as the Nationals fell to the Cardinals. Strasburg allowed three runs in the first inning but settled down to hold the Cardinals scoreless over the next six frames. The Nationals have struggled to score in Strasburg’s starts totaling just nine runs in his five outings. Today the Nationals scored just two runs to back...

Wild pitch by Washington Nationals pitcher bounces over screen (video)

It is not uncommon for balls to travel over the protective screen behind home plate, but usually that happens when a lazy, high foul pop-up comes off the bat of the hitter, not caroming sky-high after a wacky bounce during a wild pitch by an erratic pitcher. But that exact situation occurred on Tuesday night when Washington Nationals relief pitcher Henry Rodriguez’s wild pitch...

Nationals give reporter Gatorade bath after game

The Washington Nationals used a sterling performance from Gio Gonzalez and some offensive activity to defeat Cincinnati 8-1 on Thursday night. After the game new MASN reporter Julie Alexandria got welcomed to the sidelines with a Gatorade shower while interviewing Gonzalez. (H/T Nats Inquirer) To earn the shower Gonzalez went 8 innings allowing one run. Here are some screenshots...

Mudcats night darkened by Nationals two-run homer

Zebulon, N.C. –Potomac Nationals first baseman Kevin Keyes hit a two-run homer that shattered a light bulb in left field to give Potomac the 2-0 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium. The Nationals held the Mudcats scoreless for the first time this season.  With the offense failing to score, Shawn Morimando suffered the loss for Carolina despite...

I’m in Dead Last Place – An Ode to Stephen Strasburg

Stephen Strasburg is killing me. Seriously. He is 1 and 4. I traded Ryan Braun for him and Josh Hamilton (another sore subject for me). Man, can I pick ‘em? I guarantee if anyone else had him in my league, he would be 4 and 1 right now. For everyone who currently has Strasburg on his or her team, I’m sorry. This start is atrocious. It’s my fault. Need I bring up Joey Votto...

The Bryce Harper Monster Bomb off Bunny Arroyo that wrecked by gambling account

May 7th, 2009: I tried to be sneaky tonight by taking a prop bet that Bryce Harper would NOT homer off Bronson Arroyo. You figure that Arroyo is a veteran pitcher who should know better than to pitch to the one hitter in the Nationals cold lineup who can hurt you. What resulted was one of the longest home runs that Bryce Harper has ever hit. After the ball landed on the centerfield...

Jayson Werth says Phil Jackson the answer to Nats early season woes?

And so, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets have apparently courted Phil Jackson about a coaching gig recently, Jayson Werth just wants Jackson to pay a visit to the Washington Nationals clubhouse, burn some sage, and adjust the feng shui: "Somebody was talking about Phil Jackson the other day. We need to call him up, have him come in & burn some sage or...

Gio Spins A Gem, Nats Win 8-1

The Nationals had lost four straight games entering this Reds series, and the offense had been deplorable. The entire 25-man roster decided today was going to be the end of that, as they put a hurting on the Reds in all aspects of their play in the 8-1 victory. Gio Gonzalez got things started on the right note, and he never let up for the rest of his outing. He was perfect through...

Davey: "It's Time To Get A Little Mad"

It was an ugly one offensively once again for the Nationals as they were shut out by the Cardinals at home. Davey was frustrated following the loss, indicating it was time to “get a little mad” and that there would be some changes in the lineup for Wednesday’s afternoon game. Hopefully, it’s enough to give the Nats a boost. Until then, the Nats have to sit on a 2-0 loss as...
