Jason Bergmann struggled early in the season, struggled bad enough to be optioned to Columbus (AAA). But after Matt Chico followed suit in struggling and Mike O'Connor getting blasted in his only start, the Nationals turned a few days ago back to Jason Bergmann for once and for all to lock up the fifth starter role. He is off to a good start.
Bergmann threw 7 shutout innings, scattering just 3 hits and striking out 9 to help lead the Washington Nationals to a 1-0 win and a 3 of 4 series win versus the NL East rivals.
