The Minnesota Twins didn't wind up having enough room for Tyler Robertson this spring. The team they face on the road this weekend does, though. Four days after the Twins designated Robertson for assignment, the Washington Nationals claimed him off waivers. The left-handed pitcher was bumped to clear space for outfielder Clete Thomas, whom Minnesota called up from Triple-a Rochester on Monday. Robertson made the Opening Day roster before being optioned to Rochester on April 6. In two major league appearances, he completed one full inning, giving up a home run and compiling an ERA of 9.00. Minnesota takes on Washington at 3:05 p.m. Saturday and in a doubleheader Sunday after Friday's game was postponed due to Tropical Storm Andrea's trip up the East Coast. Follow Phil Ervin on Twitter

Joe Mauer's milestone homer highlighted key Twins win

The Minnesota Twins' hometown hero provided a milestone moment, but it was up to their hottest hitter of late to cap a special day in the nation's capital for captain Joe Mauer. Right fielder Ryan Doumit and the Twins bounced back from a couple wasted plate opportunities to single home the winning run in the 11th inning, ensuring Mauer's 100th career home run came in...

MLB Draft: Minnesota Twins Select Kohl Stewart 4th Overall

Minnesota Twins have drafted right-handed pitcher Kohl Stewart with the 4th pick in the draft, and he is one of the more intriguing players in the draft.  He is dual sport star and is committed to play both football and baseball at Texas A&M. A premium football recruit as a quarterback, Stewart passed for 8,803 yards and 87 touchdowns in three high school seasons before committing...

Mason: Twins made right choice in Kohl Stewart

MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins have a pretty good track record of drafting high school quarterbacks. In 2001, they took the hometown kid, Cretin-Derham Hall quarterback and catcher Joe Mauer, with the No. 1 overall pick. Mauer chose baseball over football despite having an offer to play quarterback at Florida State. That decision has turned out OK for both Mauer and the Twins,...

Twins rumor: Minnesota interested in Grady Sizemore

Free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore recently resumed baseball-related activities, meaning he’s nearing the point where he’ll consider signing his next contract. When this happens – likely closer to the All-Star break – the Minnesota Twins are one of the teams that will have interest in Sizemore, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN. Wolfson points out that...

Josh Willingham as Silver Elvis, revisited

In honor of the return of Josh Willingham to Washington for the first time since the December 2010 trade with the A's for Henry Rodriguez and Corey Brown, we present an old 2010 screencap of Josh Willingham in the ceremonial Silver Elvis wig. Willingham wore it a lot that year. Things have certainly changed around here since 2010, when a 93-loss season was considered pretty good...

Quick scouting report on Kohl Stewart

The Twins selected right handed pitcher Kohl Stewart in tonight’s draft. I know literally nothing about about him (or for that matter, any of the other prospects), so I did a Google search to find out a little about him. Let’s make some rush’s to judgment! Um… Hold up. This was the Twins’ draft pick right, and not the Vikings? /double checks. Hmmm. Does Kohl know this?...
